Fashion regrets may be as short-lived in your head as the collection of H&M is on the racks, but a year-end does make us look back at our choice of trends nevertheless. We end up trying a lot of fashion trends just because we want to be stylishly forward. Ask yourself, there must be at least one fashion trend you wish you hadn’t tried. 1. The Low-Waist Jeans
Bending down to tie my shoelaces! Yes, that was the biggest struggle from my low-waist jeans days, and you know why! However trending they were at that time, I hated the fact that my butt-crack was at the liberty of a peek-a-boo whenever it wanted. Thank our fascination with the 70’s for the high-rise bottoms have made a comeback to this season’s trends. World peace is now restored!

2. Crop Tops
Easy breezy and perfect for summer! Well, maybe yeah but not the best thing in case one is slightly on the heavier side. Yes, I am a 20-something girl with a slightly bulging tummy and therefore, I was the saddest person on the planet when the trend invaded wardrobes. After some body-positivity motivation, I tried on a crop top with a pair of high-waisted jeans. But as expected, it didn’t work out well. It made me feel terrible about my body. I sincerely wish I had not fallen prey to that crazy trend.

3. Leather Pants
Leather pants are not the ideal pants to be worn to any party. Remember Ross from Friends having his leather-pants-shrinking moment? Luckily, I did not have that awkward experience, but I did get a major tear in the knees when I squatted. Not to forget the funny sound it makes when you walk around! Never experimenting with fashion trends again.

4. The Grunge Fringe
I have a baby face and getting fringes might not have been the best choice. I couldn’t have looked younger! As a 22-year old, I didn’t get much done; looking 15, it’s safe to say that I have become best friends with hairpins and can’t wait for my hair to grow out.

5. Fabric Overdose
Statement sleeves (with ruffles) is one trend I really wanted to try. So, I ordered a top online and when I tried it I was horrified. I looked like a warrior with power shoulders and sooo much fabric overshadowing my petite frame. Seeing my reflection in the mirror all I could think is this is just not happening!

6. Statement Necklaces
Yes, statement necklaces are great when you want to add some oomph to your ensemble, but damn are they annoying! Ask any Bong and they will tell you tales about the dreaded Puja days when moms force a saree and chunky jewellery on you! I never was a big fan of ethnicwear but decided to see what the fuss is about statement jewellery. Nope! The heavy necklace felt like there was a little animal dangling from my neck, it distracted anyone I was trying to have a conversation with and all hell broke loose when I tried to bust my moves post the Sandhya Aarti! Never again!

7. Lingerie As Outerwear
A huge fan of Victoria’s Secret, I dared to take the lingerie look outside! I’m not sure how I fared but you can imagine my plight when the black halter babydoll I donned to dinner with my friend got a little moody and kept riding down. It was really embarrassing as I had to keep fixing my top throughout the evening, and my friend literally asked me as to why I would wear a nightie to dinner at a fancy place. However, thanks to my petite frame, things did not get too obvious! Would I rock this trend again? NO!
