Festivals, Holiday, Glitter, Shimmer, Shine! These words are synonyms for me. If I am doing my make-up in December, I make SURE I will have some (and maybe a lot) of glitter to make an appearance. From shimmery primers to metallic nails, I am absolutely willing and ready to take the star’s spot on the Christmas tree. While it is essential that you NOT go overboard with the glitter, there’s no problem in having more than one shiny object on your face!
Here are my picks for the super awesome glitter and shimmer make-up products that you should put on this season!
Colorbar Metallics Body Shimmer-Miss Reflective
Okay, let’s get the basics out of the way. Are you wearing a backless something for NYE or your friend’s wedding, or something that shows off your decolletage? Use a little bit of this on your collarbones and shoulders to shine through! Or mix it with your moisturiser for a subtle glow.
theBalm Overshadows Shimmering All-Mineral Eyeshadow - Work is Overrated
First up, the name catches your eye! This is a very pretty champagne shade that I love using as an eyeshadow but also double it up as a brow highlight in a pinch. It’s a pigment so you can use it anywhere for the sheen.
Bobbi Brown Shimmer Blush - Coral
Dust a little bit on the apples of your cheeks for a shiny flush. What I do sometimes add this shade to my cheeks and my eyelids, it adds dimension to your look without it feeling caked up.
Milani Fierce Foil Eyeshine - 04 Venice
I seriously think shades of blue can light up even the dullest of days! While a complete blue smokey eye may not be your thing, but a nice frosty light blue eyeshadow with a darker glittery blue in the corners of your eye will make you channel your inner Elsa without the snow!
MUA Luxe Ombre Shimmer Stick
If I could own ONLY highlighters and use just that, I probably would. My unicorn soul gets so happy with this stick. The best part being the 3 different shades that you get in this stick. You could lay it flat and blend all 3 into your cheeks for a warm glow, or you could use the different ends depending on your mood.
Bobbi Brown High Shimmer Lip Gloss - Electric Violet
This blue-toned violet sheen lip gloss will give your lips a natural pink shine that is subtle enough to swipe on by itself on for a photo on Christmas morning. You can put it on top of your fave berry lip for a little extra something for that party.
Shiseido Shimmering Cream Eye Color - Patina GR707
I feel like this season I am steering more towards the cooler tones in general. This light grey can be swiped on as a base of your smokey eye, or even used as an eyeliner over your cat-eye.
Makeup Revolution Strobe Highlighter - Lunar
This cool-toned lilac highlighter is ideal for the season, especially if you live in a warmer place (which most of us do). This brings that sort of a cool glow to your face that the weather couldn’t!
Faces Splash Nail Enamel - Shanghai Shimmer
They have a lot of metallic shades in this range that you should totally check out, but this silver is like Christmas tree topper goals! Either paint your ring finger on both hands for an accent nail manicure while you paint the rest in Santa red OR just paint them all. After all, NYE happens only once a year!
Givenchy Le Prisme Yeux Quator Eye Shadow
While this is a little steep for an eyeshadow quad, it basically has you covered for any eye make-up look that you were planning on doing this season. There are 4 versatile shades in this quad that you can wear by themselves or on top of your other eyeshadow for a shimmery boost.
Ready to be a gorgeous tree-topping star? I know you are!
