#IBelieveInI: These Women Talking About Their Fears Is SO Beautifully Empowering!

I am insecure.

Three words of acceptance, but the most difficult three words to say. From the beginning we have been told, being insecure is a weakness, it means that you are weaker than those around you and that feeling comes with a truckload of guilt. So you hide it, fight it and sometimes bury it behind a facade.

I am a big and tall girl, I have been for a very long time in my life. Surprisingly, in the beginning, I did not feel like it mattered. I was happy. Then the real world got a hold of me. I felt the gnawing feeling in the back of my mind that I was not good enough. Everyone was more beautiful, slender and short. I was made to feel bad about the way I looked and was told that it was wrong to not want to change it. I was suddenly not pretty enough and not feminine enough. Slurs like fat, big, huge, ugly, became a part of an everyday conversation. I tried listening to people when they said, ‘it hurts you only if you let it in’, but you know there isn’t any truth to it.

Have you ever felt like this?

Before I say anything more, I just want to say, YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

“I have always been insecure about the way I look. I never really felt beautiful. There was a time when I didn’t step out of the house without some foundation on, some kajal. I was that uncomfortable in my own skin.” – Samira Badhwar, Senior Script Writer, Comedy

“When I compare myself to other people, something or the other will always be not good enough. Maybe I won’t be able to hold a conversation when I’m at a party or they won’t find me interesting enough.” – Ragini Kapoor, Sales Manager
