To set your gender on Google:
We cannot help but celebrate every little milestone that we cross in our collective fight for women’s equality. After the news that Saudi Arabia announced its plans to lift the ban on women driving, Coca-Cola decided to celebrate this victory with a beautiful ad.
The ad, posted on November 2, shows a Saudi dad teaching his daughter how to drive while the girl makes several hesitant attempts. But, once she has a sip of Coke, she regains confidence and is read to drive the car. ‘Change has a taste’ is the tagline of the ad and aptly so! Watch the ad here to celebrate the historic event.
In a statement to Huffpost, Omar Bennis, Public Affairs Director at Coca-Cola Middle East, said “Coca-Cola is continuing its legacy of celebrating positive social and cultural change in its advertising campaigns by releasing a topical and timely ad in the Middle East. The campaign touches on the brand’s values surrounding diversity and inclusion and aligns with Coca-Cola’s commitment to enable the economic empowerment of women.”
Kudos to Saudi Prince Muhammed bin Salman who, in a bid to modernize Saudi Arabia, also announced that that women will be allowed into sports stadiums starting 2018.
Even small victories are victories, people! Let’s celebrate this one!
