Everyone’s eye shape is different…the most important thing about a mascara is the wand, so find a wand that you’re comfortable with and stick to it! Apply a mascara starting from the base of your lashes and rotate the wand as you reach the top of your lashes. This will ensure you get maximum length and volume from the formula.
We got a Delhi-based make-up artist, Vidya Tikari, to give us some insights while picking a mascara! “The first thing you need to figure out is the longevity of your formula. A waterproof mascara is preferable if you have very long work hours, plan to attend a wedding, or wear mascara while you swim! ” she says. A regular mascara works just fine for a 9-5 work day. Find a mascara to give your lashes some volume and length without clumping. A slightly creamy, dry formula clumps a lot lesser. And how much is too much? “I don’t recommend applying more than 3 coats of mascara on your lashes,” she says.
Save: Essence Lash Princess False Lash Effect Mascara (Rs 449), is a good drugstore buy for most of your high-end mascaras. It gives your lashes volume, length and a false-lash effect. Grab it while you can!
Spend: L'Oreal Paris False Lash Superstar Mascara (Rs 950) is great if you have really short lashes, and you need to add length. The mascara has a primer on one end and a mascara on the other. The primer coats and volumizes while the mascara adds faux volume. The two put together make your lashes look like a million bucks!
Splurge: Bobbi Brown No Smudge Mascara (Rs 2,750) is a favourite among make-up artists and that’s because it’ll stay put through thick and thin. It defines, curls, and lengthens lashes without smudging, clumping, or flaking. Celeb make-up artist Namrata Soni swears by this one.
