We’ve all been there: after weeks of texting, it’s finally time to meet the guy you’ve been flirting with. While you’re hoping the evening turns out to be great, you end up questioning your look. Don’t give yourself a hard time, we’ve all been there! We thought we’d bring to you a date night beauty ritual you can do to put your insecurities to bed before the big night! Here is a checklist you need to get date ready!
1. Step into the shower
No, I am not saying that you do not shower everyday or that you will forget to, but hear me out! Use an amazing scrub while you’re in there and a super fragrant shower gel so you feel fresh and smell good, for yourself. Make sure you use a scrub on arms and legs so you’re ready for that accidental touch.

2. Get rid of the fuzz.
Now that your hair follicles are open, this is the ideal time to get a close shave. Use a razor in the same direction as the natural growth of hair. Make sure you remove hair from the parts that will be visible (shoulders, legs) as well as your bikini area. You know the feeling that smooth skin gives us, you need that for date night!

3. Spritz on your signature scent
Who wouldn’t love a compliment on how great they smell? Contrary to popular beliefs, the right time to put on some perfume is right after you shower. It also means easier access to your pulse points behind your ears, the nape of your neck and the back of your knees. Look for floral and fruity scents with notes of daisies, tuberoses, orange blossoms and blackberries.

4. Put in some nail work
One of the first things he notices, sub-consciously are your hands (and feet if you’re going for an open toe). Chipped nail paint or unkempt feet are a strict no-no. Start with an application of cuticle oil followed by a rich moisturiser on your hands and feet. Then choose a nail paint that looks great without it looking that you’re trying too hard.

5. Opt for romantic make-up
Since he won’t really appreciate your contouring skills, keep your focus on a natural look. Start by using a luminising primer or a pore minimiser and then blend a medium-coverage foundation for dewy skin. Use a pale-pink blush on your cheeks and very little bronzer across your jaw to conceal a double chin. Line and fill your brows and then apply a monotone eyeshadow on your eyelids. Finish with two coats of mascara. For your lips, use a lip colour a shade darker than the natural colour of your lips.

6. Get your hair, flip ready!
If you have long hair, blow-dry them outwards direction or curl them. If you have short hair, try a deep-side parting with swept bangs. Remember to use products to avoid frizz and flyaways. Don’t go nuts, but make sure you do SOMETHING to your hair.

7. Freshen Up Your Smile
Bad breath, food buildup or yellow teeth are big turn-offs for me. Make sure you use a teeth-whitening toothpaste before you leave home. Chew on a few breath mints if you know you are going to be in close proximity.
