#FestiveGlam: Makeup Artists Give The Lowdown On The Top Make-Up Trends To Try!

With the festive season almost upon us, we will all be scrambling to find the right look. There are so many beauty trends and so many gorgeous colours and that can be quite confounding. So we spoke to a couple make-up artists to simplify the makeup trends for autumn winter 2017 for you. Check them out, and put your best face forward this season!

The Skin Trend

This trend has been doing the rounds all through the year, from red carpets to weddings, the natural skin trend is everywhere. “This isn’t just about having minimal make-up or a nude base but about adding luminosity to the whole look. Giving your skin a healthy shine is what this is about, using illuminators and products with a subtle sheen,” says Asha Hariharan, Founder and Director of Beyond The Fringe Salons in Hong Kong & Mumbai and Asha Hariharan Academy in Mumbai.

Groomed Minimalism

A put together look that doesn’t look overly made up is the key; minimalism is in. Dewy skin plays a vital part in this look, “Here, instead of overhauling the skin with matte products the trend is to opt for products that have a dewy finish and are cream-based,” says celebrity make-up artist, Namrata Soni. She further adds that these products are easier to blend and ensure your skin can breathe which further enhances the look.

Deep Velvet Lips

There’s just something about deep velvet lips, they make a statement and just exude confidence. “Dark lips is a colour that has a lot of black undertones when I say deep lips I mean a deeper hue of the shade in itself,” Asha adds. A gorgeous deeper maroon or cinnamon chocolate are the shades that look beautiful on all skin tones.

Perfectly Imperfect Lips

Lips with a light colour that lasts for a really long time but with smudged out edges is what this look entails. “While this look is long lasting, it doesn’t look too stark and gives your lip a fuller look because of the smudged out edges,” says Namrata.

Rose Tinted Make-up

This is Namrata’s favourite look for this season. “Blush tones have been doing the rounds for a while, but I think an entire makeup look with subtle blush peach and pink make-up just looks so gorgeous as a whole. Rose tinted eyeshadow, peach toned blush along with rose lip colour just pulls the whole look together,” she says.
