Day 4 of the Lakme Fashion Week 017 saw a sea of bridal wear and boy, were we able to dock on the shores! The collections from Anushree Reddy and SVA were poles apart in appeal and made for an exciting watch, as they were presented one after the other! We’ve compiled some of our favourite picks from the show.
Hyderabad-based designer Anushree Reddy’s range ‘Niloufer’ draws artistic inspiration from the regional cult figure Princess Niloufer with the garments being reminiscent of the Nawabi era.
The traditional zardozi fabric is morphed into modern silhouettes, with the outfits and accessories boasting a contemporary feel.
The styles ranged from easy-to-wear to elaborate separates, pretty picks suitable for all events right up to your wedding day! Her departure from the cliche wedding themed red and gold was evident with the designs showcasing dashes of pastel pinks, rusts oranges and sombre yellows!
On the other end of the spectrum, we had SVA couture by Sonam and Paras Modi who showcased a line drenched with an uber cool charm! The duo confess influences from the beautiful Kashmir landscapes in creating the collection.
The range, titled ‘Naseem Bagh’, consists of intricate threadwork embroidery and bold leaf motifs. The plunge blouses, fitted palazzos and A-line lehengas were sultry yet modest.
With a mix of sarees, lehengas and indo-western separates there is something in it for everyone. The collection does not shy away from touching on cultural roots and we bow down to it!
