A dancer since the age of 4, her hobby became a passion and she chased her dreams and joined the famous Kalakshetra dance school in Chennai. At 17, she realized that the income one can earn from a dancing career is not enough when taking into account the outflow required for a dancing career. In order to fund her passion, she sat for the Union Public Service Commission Exam (UPSC) and she got selected there and went on to join the Indian Railway Traffic Service. Little did she know that this one decision would help her in a big way someday.
Meanwhile, she won many awards for her dance and even went on to receive the fourth highest civilian honour-Padma Shri in 2007. In 2008, she was diagnosed with cancer, but she decided that cancer is just going to be a page in her life and not the whole book. She braved all odds and her love for dance superseded the pain and agony she was going through. Plus, she had done her financial planning so meticulously, that her needs during that difficult hour were well taken care of.
