Step 1 - Start with damp hair

Step 1 tousled hair - damp hair

Start with slightly damp hair - even if it is second day hair, just spritz some water on your mane. Then blast dry it as you run your fingers through your tresses, instead of a brush. Do not forget to apply some serum or mousse to avoid any frizz.

Step 2 - Texture is important

As you already know, for this look to create waves (pun intended), your hair’s texture is very important. So divide your almost dry hair into 2 sections, and tie 2 loose braids securing the ends with a rubber band. Now spritz on some sea salt spray and let it sit for a few minutes.

POPxo recommends: Organix Org Moroccan Sea Salt Spray Hair Styler (Rs 715)

Step 3 - Curl them up!

Step 3 tousled hair - curl hair

Open up those braids and then divide these 2 sections into 4, basically divide each section into a top section and a bottom section. Use a 1 inch curling iron to curl your hair in small sections, alternating in between curling towards your face and away from your face. Leave a little bit of the ends out of the curl so you can get that effortless wispy look.

Step 4 - Secure those curls

Bring out your trusty texturising spray and spritz your curls with it. Then using your fingers, comb through the tight curls opening them up and shaking them free.

POPxo recommends: Toni&Guy Casual Sea Salt Texturising Spray (Rs 1,050)

Step 5 - Turn up the volume

Step 5 tousled hair - add some volume dry shampoo

Add some dry shampoo to the roots and massage it in. Also, add some to your curls. As opposed to the spray, this will add some volume and hold. Pro tip: Do this with your head turned upside down for added volume.

POPxo recommends: Batiste Dry Shampoo Plus Instant Hair Refresh Beautiful Brunette (Rs 679)

Step 6 - Finishing spray, please!

Just spritz on some mild hairspray to hold the hair in place. Feel free to run your fingers through your tresses during the day, this is one of those hairstyles that look better when they are more messy.

POPxo recommends: Wella Professionals Stay Firm Finishing Hair Spray (Rs 1,238)
