16 Important Marriage Lessons For A Happily Ever After!

Marrying the love of your life sure is an awesome feeling! After all, you get to spend the rest of your life with your one true love. But do you know (and we HOPE that you do) that making a marriage work is no piece of cake? It requires constant care, nurturing and lots of love to make it the happy haven that you want it to be. So, here are a few marriage lessons which every couple should know to make their married life a perfectly happy one.

1. Don’t just feel your love, express it.

No, we’re not telling you to say ‘I Love You’ 7,687 times in a day, but it’s nice to hear it from your partner every once in a while, don’t you think?

2. There’s more to a marriage than sex.

Love should take the foreground in your marriage. Having amazing sex is also very, very important, but that should never overshadow the love part.

3. Make your spouse your closest friend.

You two have decided to be together forever, right? In sickness and in health, and in all other possible situations? Your friends will definitely still be very important and they will be there for you (just like you will be there for them), but your hubby/ wifey will be the one who ALWAYS has your back, no matter what.

4. Take some time out to play games. Childish, fun games.

Run around in the park, play hide-and-seek, play kiddy board games and just lose yourselves in it. You cannot imagine how happy it will make you both, and also bring you closer.

5. Never disrespect each other.

Every couple fights, but you should always keep your arguments healthy. Abusing, name-calling and mean stuff like that not only worsens the fight, but also weakens your relationship.

6. Never disrespect each other’s parents and family.

This is even more important than not disrespecting each other. We know that you are the most important people for each other, but your partner’s family holds (and will always hold) a soft spot in his/ her heart. So, never say anything nasty about them unnecessarily.

7. Take a vacay (short or long) every 3 months.

We know it’s difficult with your busy schedules and everything, but try and take out at least 2 days every 3 months and go on a vacation. It will give you time to rejuvenate with your better half by your side, and keep the magic alive.

8. Avoid using your phones when you two are together.

The most annoying thing somebody can do to you is give their phones more attention while they are with you. And imagine your partner doing that to you! You guys are away from each other the whole day, so keep your phones aside, and cherish the time you finally get to spend with each other.

9. Have complete faith in your partner and your relationship.

You are in this together, so even if something does go wrong for a short while, just have complete faith in your marriage and your spouse. Give them time to come around, and things should fall in place.

10. A little PDA goes a long way.

Not telling you to break out into a full-on makeout session in a busy street, but you know the small things like holding hands, stealing a kiss when nobody’s watching, and other cutesy stuff never hurt anybody. You’ve got to try it to believe it.

11. Never sleep without resolving a fight.

Like we’ve already said, every couple fights. But, you can try this small trick to make your married lives a lot easier. Whatever happens, just make it a point to never sleep without resolving a fight, even if you have to stay up all night talking about it.

12. Do not make a huge issue out of something petty.

If something can be sorted out easily, then do not complicate it further. That makes things only worse.

13. Make room for some ‘me’ time.

As important as it is to spend quality time with your partner, it’s equally important to take some time out for yourself. Take a break for yourself every day, or at least every week.

14. Snuggle, cuddle and kiss a lot.

Yes, do this only because it’s so cute, and of course it’ll bring you two closer.

15. Do exciting stuff together, discover shared passions

Try new things every day – painting, dancing, yoga, water sports, anything. When you do new things together, the spark in your conjugal life stays alive.

16. Most importantly, set your priorities right

Don’t let go of your individuality, but do not let it hamper your relationship too!
