10 Easy Beauty Tips To Make Your Hands Look Engagement Ready!

Don’t you want that sparkling diamond ring to look gorgeous on your hand?! For that to happen, your dainty fingers need to look tidy and well-kept. Believe it or not, your hands need some pampering too and unfortunately, we never pay them enough attention other than those monthly manicures. Don’t just leave the job to the professionals though, you too in your own personal way can look after them. Here are 10 beauty tips to make your hands look pretty. Trust us, your soon to-be-hubby will want to hold hands ALL through the engagement ceremony! *Wink*

1. Moisturize, Moisturize & Moisturize!

1 beauty tips moisturize hands

Each time you wash and wipe your hands, make sure you slather a generous amount of moisturiser on them. It will keep your fingers and palms feeling smooth, nourished and soft. During the summer, ideally you should stick to a non greasy moisturiser as it prevents stickiness and during the winters, a cream with a thicker and richer texture would do a great job at preventing dryness. Remember, your hands are super prone to aging, so you definitely want to do this.

2. Wash Your Hands As Often As You Can

One quick way to getting pretty hands is to wash them as often as you can. Keeping them squeaky clean will not only keep the germs and bacteria at bay, but will also make your nails look fresh and neat. Keep this in mind though, whenever you wash your hands, make sure to use lukewarm water. Too cold or too hot can damage the skin and lead to blisters.

3. Get Scrubbing

You can either buy a hand scrub or make one by using natural ingredients at home. Scrubs serve as great exfoliators because they get rid of dead skin cells and improve blood circulation. If you’re making one at home, make sure to use olive oil, white sugar crystals and lemon juice. Blend all the ingredients well and apply the paste on your hands and massage well. Once you’re done scrubbing, wash it off with lukewarm water and apply a moisturiser to keep your hands smooth and babysoft.

4.  Sunscreen Loves Your Hands

If your hands are constantly exposed to the sun, you’ve got to apply sunscreen on them. Not doing the deed can cause wrinkles and brown spots on your hands. Thus, causing them to age faster. Whenever you step out from your home or travel, make sure to carry a sunscreen or a moisturizer that contains SPF 15 to help protect your skin from getting damaged.

5. How Often Do You Use Gloves?

Not a huge fan of using gloves? Well, if you want pretty hands for your engagement, you should probably start using them now. Put them on when you’re doing the dishes as they prevent your fingers from shrivelling up and getting dirty. During the winters, mittens work just fine because they prevent the cold air from striping the moisture and layers of skin from your hands.

6. Your Cuticles Need Protection

You may not know this, but cuticles and nails are very fragile. Daily environmental stress factors and manual work can damage them. That’s why it’s important to invest in a cuticle oil. All it takes is a few drops to put an end to roughness and dryness. If you don’t find the need to splurge on cuticle oil, good old glycerin works just fine too. Twice a week, apply the it before you go to bed and wash it off the next morning with lukewarm water. We bet you’ll have softer hands in no time!

7. Don’t Forget To File & Trim

7 beauty tips nail file

Untrimmed and shapeless nails are anything but attractive. The worst part is that they’re noticeable and usually don’t make a good impression! That’s something you may want to take care of before your engagement. Get them filed, get them trimmed and make them look presentable again. Each time your file your nails, always file them in one direction. Doing it a seesaw motion can not just damage the nail, but can separate its layers as well. This often leads to nail peeling and breaking – none are a pleasant position to be in.

8. Treat Yourself To A Manicure

Just like your legs, your hands get tired too. Treating them to manicure at least once a month can do your nails good. Regular manicure sessions are essential because they keep your hands clean, exfoliate them to perfection and keep them relaxed with a proper massage. Happy hands for the win, we say!

9. Paint & Repeat

No matter how busy you are, make it a point to give your nails a makeover. Chipped and dry nail paint looks untidy and unappealing. After applying fresh polish, apply a coat of transparent nail paint so that it makes the polish lasts longer. If you need a break from colour, simply applying transparent nail paint also makes a classy statement.

10. It All Boils Down To Diet

Believe it or not, but when it comes to nail care, diet plays a very important role. For strong nails and soft hands, you must consume foods that are rich in proteins, vitamin B, vitamin E, fiber and minerals. Fruits, leafy vegetables, white meat and pulses, make excellent food choices!
