Given that nowadays a lot of our emotions are expressed through the number of likes and comments on social media… How much is too much? Have you also wondered the same thing? Should you add him on Facebook, talk to him…or stalk him? Here are 10 dos and don’ts of adding your crush on Facebook!
1. Do: Check out his profile
There is absolutely no harm in checking out his profile. In fact, it’s something you should do. Why not make the dating world easier with the tools you have at your disposal? If you can find out his favourite movie and quote it the next time you talk, then why not?
2. Don’t: Start stalking
However, draw a fine line between checking out his profile and stalking him. It is considered stalking if you are on any post of his that’s older than a couple of months. In that case, stop. Breathe. And return to the real world.
3. Do: Add him
Nothing wrong with sending him a friend request. Though it’s against the classic dating norm where the guy is supposed to make the first move, it’s actually pretty healthy for the girl to make the first move. Especially if you’ve known him for a while, go ahead and click ‘Add Friend’!
4. Don’t: Stalk the people who interact with your crush
Who your crush talks to is simply none of your business. Whether it’s a girl or a guy, you don’t need to feel jealous. So don’t end up on their profile, trying to figure out a relationship between your crush and that person. It’s unhealthy and super embarrassing when you end up liking their picture by mistake!
5. Do: Like and comment on his posts
This is the kind of social media attention that everyone wants. When you post something witty you want people to like it. So does he. You liking or commenting on his posts is not being creepy or clingy. It just means you find him funny and that’s a good sign, right?
6. Don’t: Take over his entire page
However, you don’t want your face to permanently be there in his notifications or feed. It gets kind of tiring to be seen all the time. Also, don’t keep tagging him in memes and posts because that definitely seems creepy and clingy!
7. Do: Say ‘Hi!’
If you’ve added him, there is nothing that should stop you from sending him a simple ‘Hi, how are you doing?’ direct message. You’re not clingy for being the one who messages first. Besides, life is too short to not text him first, right?
8. Don’t: Keep messaging
However, don’t start messaging him non-stop. Again, there is nothing wrong with starting a conversation but know when to stop. If he doesn’t reply, just curtail yourself there. However, even if he does reply, don’t go overboard. Leave an air of mystery around yourself.
9. Do: Read through his posts
You want to know what your crush thinks about the world so yes, keep up with his status updates and what he shares. This way, you’ll actually know whether the two of you share the same wavelength or not.
10. Don’t: Pick a fight over what you see on Facebook
Just don’t. Sometimes people post silly things as well. Just because it might not seem sensible to you doesn’t mean you need to start an argument with him. If his opinions are so blatantly different from yours, then maybe it’s time to find a new crush altogether, eh?GIFs: Giphy, Tumblr
