#MyStory: We Had A Great First Date… And Then He Disappeared!
This happened when I was a teen, flirting and finding new friends on Orkut. Everyone my age was looking for an SMS pack so that they could message their crush without burning a hole in their pocket. It was at that time I received an SMS from an unknown number that was well-written, cute, funny, honest and really humble. I could figure that the guy knows me and had a crush on me. Lucky for me, the message wasn’t creepy. I was curious to know who this was, so I replied asking him the same. He told me he’s my cousin Vaishali’s friend and that’s how he got my number.
Immediately, I checked his profile on Orkut & I was quite impressed to see the good looking man that he was. He spoke well, definitely looked great and wasn’t creepy… Hmm, I mentally checked all the boxes off in my head. From messages to late night calls… We stayed in touch with each other and had feelings for each other as well.He lived in the same city but in a completely different corner, quite far away from my place. We planned to meet, a lot of times, but somehow it never worked out. While our conversations continued for almost two months, I got the perfect opportunity and decided to make our first date the best one ever. My parents were going out of town for a night, and I thought this was the perfect way to spend time with each other. So I invited him to my place and he willingly accepted. I was excited, nervous and shy. We were meeting for the first time, ever. I wore a long black dress with low cut back and swiped some red lipstick and left my hair loose. Finally, at about 10 am my parents left and he came to my place around noon. To my surprise he also wore black and looked even more handsome than he looked in his photographs. I could not take my eyes off him. OMG, his smile was just magical!
Surprisingly, it wasn’t awkward at all. We chatted for a really long time and spoke about everything under the sun. It was almost lunch time and he asked me if he could cook for me. I was delighted. He made the most delicious lunch and served it in the most romantic way. This date was going better than expected and I was cherishing every minute of it.After our lunch date, we cuddled and cozied in bed. He gently ran his fingers through my hair, caressing me and looking into my eyes. We kissed each other and just like that, fell asleep in each other’s arms. When we woke up, it was late in the evening and was time for him to leave. We both didn’t want this day to end but it had to.The next morning, I messaged him saying that I had thoroughly enjoyed his company and that I would love to spend more time with him. I waited for four hours or so, but didn’t get any response from him. So I called him, only to find that his phone was switched off. I kept calling him but his phone wasn’t reachable. I left him several messages and even left notes on Orkut, but he had just vanished. I contacted my cousin and she said she had no idea where he was.
It’s been three months since this happened and I am so heartbroken. I can’t tell my parents or anyone else as people might judge me. But yes, our first date was also our last and it’s just so unsettling.*Names changed to protect privacyImages: ShutterstockHave a story you’d like to share?
