I Met My Guy Bestie In The Most Unexpected Way Possible

Being single in your twenties is hard. Everybody I know is either in a relationship or getting engaged or married! And for some reason all my couple friends have taken it upon themselves to find me someone ‘special’. After a bunch of disastrous dates set up by them I decided it was time to take matters into my own hands. After all who better to find someone right for me than yours truly!

Which is how I ended up downloading Tinder. It came highly recommended by a few of my friends, so I thought why not! It definitely beat sitting at home in my pajamas on a Saturday night! I opened the app and started exploring. After a few swipe lefts, I came across this guy who seemed like someone I might really get along with and I swiped right. Luckily he did too – it was a match! We began chatting and soon realised that we could talk to each other about anything & everything and that felt great!

After a few days of chatting when we finally decided to meet – the date was hilarious. Now, I would love to say that this was the start of our amazing love story and how our first date was super romantic. But in reality it was anything but! We were laughing hysterically within the first five minutes. We got along like a house on fire and it felt like we had known each other forever. It helped that we had the same taste in movies, food and books!

I might have signed up on Tinder to find love, but I think I managed to find something equally amazing – my boy bestie. Today, he is one of the closest people in my life. We share everything with each other, he is my go to person. Good, bad ugly – he is the first person I inform. People have met the love of their lives on dating apps but I have found a guy who I know will be there for me no matter what happens. I don’t know how many of you have a boy bestfriend but let me tell you, it’s amazing. Boys give the most practical advice and are so dependable. The best part is that the whole friendship is totally drama free.

While a lot of people keep hoping that our friendship will blossom into something romantic, I really don’t see that happening. What we have is special and I don’t want to change it. But I haven’t given up on love. I still use Tinder and meet interesting, new people and through the course of meeting these people, I know that I will eventually meet the man of my dreams (soon hopefully!).
