10 Confessions Only A True ‘Kajal Addict’ Will Understand!

Your eye makeup is always on-point. You don’t leave the house without your eyeliner. On days when you don’t wear kajal, your friends ask if you’re sick! Every eyeliner and kajal addict will relate to these scenarios. Read on to know exactly how dependent Team POPxo is on their kajals and eyeliners!

1. You don’t step out without your kajal(s)…

1 kajal addict “I have three different kajals in my bag. I actually do.” – Pradipta Sarkar, Managing Editor

2. You’re always up for eye makeup experiments.

2 kajal addict “Being a black liner aficionado since years, I decided it was time to change things up. Coloured liner has definitely become a cool, new rage so one day when I was feeling extra bold, I substituted my regular black liner for a bright, electric blue one. I took things even further by drawing, dramatic wings. I thought I looked super fashionable and on top of my beauty game for this brunch I was going to, till I stepped out and got weird looks from guys all days. In fact, my guy friends told me it looked more weird than wow! Needless to say, I’ve never used that eyeliner again.” – Priyanka Ghura, Assistant Editor

3. You take great pains to keep your eyeliner intact.

3 kajal addict “I will go hours without rubbing my eyes, even though I really want to, because I don’t want to mess up the eyeliner I’ve spent so much time applying! Sometimes, makeup is a pain.” – Sanya Jain, Beauty Writer & Copy Editor

4. Your kajal before anything else!

4 kajal addict “Some days, while day dreaming I rub my eyes real hard and give them a nice long massage, only to realize ‘Sh*t! I had put on kajal today’. And then when I go and look in the mirror I look like the queen of all the racoons in the world! Well, what do I do when that happens? I wash it off and put on a new coat of kajal. Because ain’t no one making me give up that lil’ beauty routine of mine!” *wink* – Manika Parasher, Lifestyle Writer & Copy Editor Also read: We Tried 8 Kajals. 5. Not wearing kajal makes you look sick.

5 kajal addict “I had started wearing kajal when I was in 12th grade so everyone I know was used to seeing me with kajal on. Once, when I was in college I was way behind the deadline for an assignment and needed at least a week to finish it. So, one of those days, I went to college without applying kajal and everyone told me I looked sick… Oddly enough, this gave me a brilliant idea! I went to my professor and told him that I was super sick and can’t work because I get headaches if I look at the computer screen for a long time. It was a long shot but it worked! Who knew that something small like a kajal can help me shift my deadlines!” – Sonali Pawar, Editorial Coordinator

6. You understand the pain of perfecting the wings!

6 kajal addict “I have been using Kajal for a while now but never really experimented with styles and designs. Until one day, I decided to try the much talked about winged style. I took an extra ten minutes in my usual morning routine so that I could apply it properly. How tough could it be? I thought. Turns out, very. In fact, it was probably the most frustrating thing I did early in the morning. While one side turned out fine, the other didn’t match and instead of a wing it looked a like a giant blot of black kajal. The ten minutes extended into half an hour, after which I had to wash it off. But, of course, being waterproof kajal, I couldn’t remove it completely so I had to spend the rest of the day with people telling me, ‘Hey, you’ve got something near your eye!’ *sigh*” – Isheeta Sharma, Lifestyle Writer

7. Your kajal becomes part of your identity.

7 kajal addict “I never leave the house without applying my favourite kajal. It’s like my identity and makes me feel bold and confident. One tip that my friend taught me was to use my kajal like an eyeliner. I apply it under my eyes and over the upper lash line as well. That way, it stays all day long without making eyes burn or itchy. – Sharon Alphonso, Lifestyle & Beauty Writer

8. You’ve tried using your kajal for different purposes.

8 kajal addict “Black kajal looks too bold on my eyes – not a look I’d want to go for on a daily basis at least. So, the obvious next choice for me was a brown kajal stick. After lots of sampling and experimenting, I finally found THE brown kajal that was smooth and didn’t smudge easily. I became such a fan of it, that one day I decided to use this amazing product as an eyebrow pencil. It was only logical since my eyebrows aren’t jet black. WORST decision ever! I left the house looking just how I wanted to, but by the time I got back home after the full day was over and saw myself in the mirror, there was brown product all over my forehead! Kajals are amazing, but there’s a reason they don’t double up as eyebrow pencils. I’m now in search for the right pencil for my brows.” – Sakshi Budhraja, Senior Editor & Writer Also read: 8 Simple Kajal Tricks For Perfect, Smudge-Free Eyes Every Time!

9. You apply your eyeliner even if you’re running late.

9 kajal addict “Since college days, my eyeliner has been a part of me. No matter how late I’m running, I don’t step out of the house without applying it! I use a liquid eyeliner and on most days I’m running late because I’m waiting for it to dry! There have been times when I’ve very confidently walked out of the house not knowing that my eyeliner hasn’t dried. That usually results in an embarrassing situation of eyeliner in my crease!” – Srishti Sabharwal, Fashion Writer

10. Your racoon eyes become part of your life.

10 kajal addict “I apply kajal once and bear the consequences for almost two days. The kajal I apply is really long lasting and that leaves me with racoon eyes or dark circles for two days at a stretch. It’s a little annoying.” – Apoorva Gupta, Editorial Coordinator
