10 Things That Are A BIG No-No Right Before The Wedding!

As you get ready for your wedding, we’re sure that you’ve read plenty of articles about what you should do and when you should do it. But what about things that you should not do before the wedding? Here are 10 things that are a bad idea right before the big day.

1. Getting waxed…a day before!

We know it’s important to have smooth arms and legs on the big day, but we suggest you get yourself waxed at least three to four days in advance. After all, you don’t want to risk a sudden bad reaction or wax burns on your wedding day! This buffer period will also give your skin time to heal from the redness that usually accompanies waxing!

2. Staying out in the sun too long

2 things you should not do before the wedding

Try not to spend too much time in the sun before the wedding day. Getting tanned is almost a certainty, and sunscreen can only do so much to protect you! Staying out in the sun and heat for too long can also make you feel sick, which is definitely something you don’t want before your D-Day! So stay safe.

4. A full-blown haircut!

4 things you should not do before the wedding

Now this one is huge no! A couple of days before your wedding is not the time to try something drastic with your hair. If you don’t like the results, you may not have enough time to fix the damage. We suggest experimenting with haircuts and colouring at least three months in advance, and then maintaining the style with regular trimming in the days leading up to the wedding.

5. Too much booze

It upsets your system and the hangover can give you puffy eyes, swollen skin and can lead to bloating too, which is something you most certainly do not want as you prepare to get married. We know partying is great fun, but we suggest saving the hardcore partying for the bachelorette night. One night before the wedding, steer clear of hard liquor.

6. A deep cleansing facial

6 things you should not do before the wedding

You can’t take the risk of anything happening to your pretty face right before the wedding, can you? A deep cleansing facial is a great way to get that bridal glow, but it should be done a couple of weeks in advance. Don’t wait around till the last moment to have it done.

7. Eating foods that cause bloating

We’re looking at you, rajma chawal! A lot of food items are notorious for causing bloating, and these are things you should most definitely avoid before the wedding. Avoid beans, fizzy drinks, cabbage and artificial sweeteners. And don’t forget to sip on peppermint tea to keep the bloating at bay!

8. Breaking in your wedding shoes one day before

8 things you should not do before the wedding

Or even two or three days before the big day! It is important to wear comfortable shoes that have been broken into on your wedding day, but this again is something that should be done well in advance. A day before the wedding is not the day you should be dealing with shoe bites! Make sure you break your shoes in at least a few weeks in advance, to give possible shoe bites time to heal!

9. Getting your eyebrows done

Your eyebrows can make or break the way you look. So, it goes without saying that you shouldn’t leave them for the last minute. Even if you are getting them done by the parlour lady you swear by, as a bride-to-be, we suggest you get your eyebrows shaped a week before. This way, if there are any “mishaps”, you will have time to correct them!
