1. The Midnight Laughter
I was cribbing about going to my friend’s party that night. I had a long day at work and all I really needed was a long nap under my warm blanket. But, she was one of my best friends and with a heavy heart and even heavier eyelids I turned up at her place with a huge smile on my face…and got completely bored! Her new friends were very different from me and our conversation could not move forward from the awkward small talk phase.
With a glass of wine in my hand, I was almost feeling comfortable sitting in the balcony when he walked out. A tall and well built man in a dark blue shirt and jeans. “Oh, great!” I thought as he opened his mouth to speak “Another what do you do, where are you from conversation!”
“I got the bottle, would you like some?” he said conjuring a bottle of wine from behind, I looked at him for a few seconds and then…both of us burst out laughing.
As it turned out, we ended up talking all night and in the end, raised a toast to the first of many midnight laughters.

2. Of Coffee And Sunsets
“This is the last time I am ever getting into a relationship”, she said. “I swear to God that I am washing my hands off this. I need to be alone. I need to do something for myself.”
And just like that, she quit her job and counted her savings. Upon realizing she had enough to travel for a few months, she packed a bag and went wherever her feet took her. She settled into a quaint little village.
Every morning she would sit outside her hotel room and read a book, sip on coffee and enjoy life. Yet, she couldn’t ignore her next door neighbour. Rugged, handsome and always reading a book. Just like her. They never spoke to each other, never disturbed each other. They offered each other coffee with gestures, and sipped on their coffees silently and watched the sun go down.
One day, he walked over to her and kissed her. She didn’t stop him and she didn’t know why. That night they lay together and then spoke for the first time.

3. The Power Of Secret Santa
You know what adds to the Christmas spirit?! Playing Secret Santa, of course! We were a class of 120 something students and to be honest, I only knew of a handful. Worried about who got my name, and what gift I would get, I decided to stay calm until the day finally came.
As soon as I got into my class, I went to my desk only to find a beautifully wrapped red present resting on my table. I gently unwrapped the gift and found a dainty pearl necklace I’ve been eyeing on since forever. I loved the gift no doubt, but who was this from? I asked around, but all my friends gave me a clueless look. That night, I got home and checked my FB inbox. A very familiar face asked me if I liked the gift. It took me a whole 5 minutes to realize that he was actually from my class.
He also confessed that even though we hadn’t officially spoken, he knew quite a bit about me. He wanted to get me a great gift so he had asked around about me. He then asked me out on a date. It was a whirlwind romance from there on, and trust me, he’s never failed to surprise me since. I’m one lucky girl!
