Foods That Make You Want To Have Sex… LESS! (Whaaaa?)
Lifestyle Writer & Copy Editor
Do you feel that your sex life is probably losing its sizzle? Well, it just might be the food you are eating! Yes, there are some kinds of food that may just put your sex drive in reverse gear, and what’s more, they are all tempting as hell! Here is a list of some foods which you should keep a track of in terms of serving size and frequency of consumption...
For most of us, it’s the first thing we drink after dismissing our alarms. Coffee can be a boon considering caffeine can give you increased stamina for sex - but it just might turn tables on you if you get jittery from coffee. Research shows it may cause anxiety and increased blood pressure which in turn lowers sex drive. So, count your cups wisely.
Way too many diet soda bottles in your trash may exactly be the reason your bedroom experiences are losing heat. Diet soda, and other foods with artificial sweeteners contain aspartame which has shown to lower your serotonin levels. Serotonin is responsible for inducing a sense of happiness and well being and low levels of the same may lead to a low sex drive.
All health conscious people out there are going to perhaps lose a calorie reading this, but research shows that although healthy in regulated quantities, too much soy can affect your sex drive and take it downhill.
While it may help you achieve that carefree high, and fuel the passion, too much of it may bring your libido levels crashing down. Alcohol is a depressant and affects the liver’s ability to get rid of excess estrogen. Studies show that regular and over the top consumption of alcohol makes the liver less competent in producing metabolizing enzymes, which may cause it to convert androgens into estrogens thus diminishing sex drive.
5. Dairy Products
Cheese, milk, butter and other dairy products may be tempting options, but according to a study, you may find your sex life taking a nosedive if you overindulge in these products. This can be attributed to the fact that lactic acid in dairy products may lower libido levels and these may also be infused synthetic hormones.
6. Canned foods
As easy-peezy as they are, they are also guilty of having high quantities of dietary sodium - and time and again studies have proved that it leads to increased blood pressure and decreased flow of blood to various body parts including genitals.
7. Microwavable Popcorn
Microwave popcorn is probably one of the best inventions for a lazy movie buff - but according to a study, it may not be the best idea if you are looking for some bedroom action after the movie. The bag in which it comes in, is lined with perfluorooctanoic acid which destroys sex drive.
8. Bottled Water
This is sure raising some eyebrows. It’s not the water you should be worried about, it’s the plastic bottle that it comes in. Bisphenol A, commonly known as BPA, used to manufacture plastic cans and bottles including the ones in which water is sold, can cause major sexual setbacks to men and women alike. Women with the highest BPA levels in the body produced 27 percent less viable eggs, while men lost sperm count, concentration and vitality when tested during a study at Harvard School of Public Health.
