What’s Your BEST Budget Buy? Team POPxo Reveals Their Favs!
Thrift shopping has a charm of its own. You might stumble onto a vintage designer piece that is just so rare and priceless or you might gravitate towards the most unique accessories - there is nothing quite like it. We sure love to dig into the collections of thrift stores because we love how every item has a story to tell. Here is the POPxo Team spilling the beans on their most favourite and treasured thrift finds!
1. The blue high-low skirt
Divya Sharma, Trending Editor
“My best friend bought me tons of clothes when she was in New York for a summer course. And out of all of them, this blue high-low skirt is my absolute favorite! It’s a total head-turner because of the way it flares out and manages to make an impression every time! It’s the best clothing item I’ve ever received as a gift.”
2. The neon abstract
Kritika Rathi, Senior Fashion Writer
“I bought this shift dress on my trip to San Francisco at a flea market. It was a stall where you could buy anything for 5 dollars and I got lucky with this one. It's one of my favourite dresses. The fit, the colors and the fabric. It's all just my style.”
3. Red, white and fabulous
Krita Raut, Editorial Manager
“I fell in love with this dress the moment I saw it hanging in one of the stalls at Sarojini Nagar market. The unique print inspired by the traditional dress worn by the women in Mizoram made it stand out in that crowded stall. The unique cut and that sexy open back - I knew I had to buy it. And guess what? It cost me just Rs 200! Of course, the bhaiya quoted a much higher, price but then bargaining is half the charm of shopping at Sarojini.”
4. Precious silver
Avisha Choudhary, Social Media Coordinator
“I am a big sucker for ethnic silver jewellery, and even though it burns a hole in my pocket, I would rather spend all my money on this than clothes. Then I finally found this tiny little place in Janpath that sells Banjaran jewellery. Even though it’s not silver, these vintage jewellery pieces are exquisite in their own way and made out of old coins. The best part is that they are super cheap! They are stunning and easy on the pocket...what more does a girl want?!”
5. The black and white midi
Tanaya Seth, Editorial Coordinator
“I found this midi skirt when I went on vacation to Turkey. There was a flea market with lots of thrift stalls right outside the hotel I was staying at. As soon as I saw this skirt, I knew I had to get it. It fit me perfectly, like it was just meant for me!”
6. The denim dress
Sanya Jain, Beauty Writer & Copy Editor
“I found this dress at a roadside shop in Kamla Nagar and picked it up immediately. For 200 bucks, I think it was a great bargain! I love the fall and the material.”
7. The statement bag
Shivani Shrivastava, Trending Writer
“I got this bag from Sarojini Nagar just for 350 bucks (yeah, even I was shocked). It's comfortable and I can fit anything in it (even my laptop) - useful for a 1-2 day trip as well. This is my favourite thrift buy because it is fashionable and I simply can't do without it.”
8. Earrings love
Ankita Maheshwari, Social Media Coordinator
“These super pretty jhumkas from Dilli Haat were love at first sight for me. They go well with almost all my ethnic outfits. I also pair them up with jeans and a top sometimes for an Indo-western look. P.S.: They were a steal for just Rs 120!”
9. The cutest skater dress
Prerna Chauhan, Trending Writer
“I bought this dress from Goa for around Rs 800. I love it because it's really comfortable and I also really liked the fox print because it’s so unusual. I really like dresses with long sleeves, and ones that are not too short! So, it’s perfect for me!”
