Yes, I slept with a guy I hardly knew, and no we didn’t start seeing each other after that… Also, while it was my first one night stand, it wasn’t the last.
It was my best friend’s birthday party and I was only looking forward to a fun night with hours of dancing. But the night took a completely different turn and introduced me to the world of casual sex.
Half an hour into the party, I saw this guy constantly looking at me; it took me a while to recognize him. It was Alok, Neeta’s (the birthday girl) buddy from her high school. The last time I had met him was at Neeta’s birthday party two years back. A witty guy with knack for sarcasm, Alok and I had a pretty good time at that party. However, we didn’t keep in touch after that and he had moved to the US.
The moment I recognized him I gave him a huge smile and he came towards me smiling. We went through the initial “Hi, hellos” and caught up with what was happening in each other’s lives. However, the conversation didn’t move much further, so we both went back to our respective group of friends. Later, we bumped into each other on the dance floor and danced for hours.
The party ended at 3 in the morning and Alok offered to drop me home – and I must say that I was more than happy to accept the offer. It had been a while since I had been attracted to a guy like I was to him, and I could sense that he was interested as well. He started his car, looked at me and asked, “Where to?” I simply replied, “Your place.” I guess we both knew where the night was leading to…
His flat wasn’t that far from the venue and we both couldn’t wait to reach there… We started kissing at the parking lot itself. The moment we entered his flat, we both started undressing each other and ended up having sex on his living room couch. Nope, didn’t even reach the bedroom.
When I woke up in the morning, it took me 5 seconds to realise where I was and another 10 seconds to decide how I should go about things next – I had never had a one night stand before and didn’t know the protocol. I couldn’t see him in the room, so I thought about sneaking out before he saw me. I had to be quick for that plan to work, but first I had to collect my clothes that were lying on the floor. I quickly got dressed, and in order to save time I just shoved my bra inside my hand bag. But I guess while I was busy being quick I forgot to be quiet.
I heard a door open and Alok came out of his bedroom asking, “Hey, you leaving?” And a “Yes” came out of my mouth.
I didn’t feel like I had to pretend; there was something about this guy that made me blurt out exactly what I had on my mind. The good thing was he didn’t feel bad about me leaving immediately and the fact that he didn’t ask me to stay didn’t bother me either. He dropped me home and during the drive we had a nice chat. There was no tension between us and I liked the way things ended. We haven’t met each other after that…haven’t even spoken to each other.
It was the first time I had had sex with a guy I was not in a relationship with and somehow it didn’t feel weird or wrong. And it wasn’t that awkward facing him the morning after. I’d always had this notion that sex was satisfying only when you were with someone you loved… That night proved how naïve I had been. The sex that night was pretty good, there was no awkwardness between us and it all went really smoothly.
I don’t regret what happened that night. And I have never felt that just because we slept together, Alok and I should try dating each other. Sometimes, it is wise to keep matters of the heart separate from matters of your body. 😉
