By now we all know that our daily habits influence our beauty. There are certain little things that every girl should be doing often if she wants to look like the best version of herself. We’re talking clear, radiant skin and healthy, lush locks. Get closer to those dreams by making an effort to take care and maintain yourself. We give you a few important beauty habits every girl should have by now. Read on to see if you’ve perfected these important steps and how you can tweak your routine to look fabulous always.
1. Exfoliate ALL Over
You’ve got your cleansing and moisturizing routine down pat, but have you really been taking exfoliating seriously? It gets rid of rough, dead skin giving you much smoother skin that absorbs moisturizers and lotions much better. So remember to exfoliate everywhere, even your underarms, breasts and lips.
2. A Makeup Routine That Works For You
Instead of experimenting with makeup trends all the time and trying a full face of contouring, figure out a routine that works for you. A good foundation/BB cream that evens out your skin tone and brightens it, a mascara or liner that makes your eyes look gorgeous, a lipstick shade that lifts your spirits – your routine should be something you’ve mastered and makes you feel great but not too made up.
3. Mix And Match Your Shampoo And Conditioner
It’s a great idea to use different products for your hair to address different concerns. A clarifying shampoo for an oily scalp and a super moisturizing conditioner for dry ends, for example. In fact, using the same shampoo and conditioner isn’t a good idea at all: your shampoo should be aimed at your scalp and your conditioner at your strands. Keep that in mind to find the perfect cocktail of products for your hair to help keep it in the best shape.
Girls, your pillow makes a big difference to your hair and skin. Regular pillow cases cause friction on our hair and skin, which results in frizz and wrinkles. Using a silk pillowcase is a much better idea as it’s so much gentler on our face and locks as we toss and turn every night. Also, you should definitely be washing and changing your pillowcase at least once a week to prevent breakouts.
5. No Sleep Till Your Makeup Is Off
We all know this cardinal beauty rule, but we’ve all ignored it at some point. Make it such a habit that you can’t fall asleep till your face is squeaky clean. You can’t think about clear, healthy skin if you don’t take this one seriously.
This is an awesome beauty habit to help you feel refreshed instantly, especially in this grimy heat. Carry a facial mist with you everywhere (a rose water mist is the best) to beat the heat, wake up your skin and leave it fresh and glowing. Running ice cubes over your face is also a simple way to brighten up dull, tired-looking skin as well to help your eyes look fresher and less puffy.
7. Fight Dry Ends
In order to keep your hair looking great minus dryness, frizziness and split ends, it’s important to use a hair mask weekly. They’re hydrating, reverse damage and leave your locks silkier and shinier. Apply a deep conditioner and leave it in for 10 minutes in the shower once a week to nourish dry strands. Also, you’re probably sick of hearing it, but regular trims really are the best way to get rid of split ends and help your hair grow better.
You’ve perfected your cleansing, moisturizing and exfoliating routine and you use sunblock, but to bring that wow-factor to your complexion you should know it needs that extra boost. A facial oil or serum is that extra something your skin needs to keep it hydrated, looking fresh, young and glowy. Just a drop or two a day is enough as these are extremely concentrated doses of ingredients that penetrate your skin amazingly and show brilliant effects fast. Read more about facial oils here.
9. Clean It Up
Clean your makeup brushes and sponges after every couple of uses for the health of your skin. Otherwise, it’s the fastest way to irritate skin and cause an ugly breakout. Also, make sure to declutter your dresser often of old makeup products. Throw out expired cosmetics to avoid skin infections and rashes.
Not getting enough sleep and feeling exhausted shows up on your face. A regular sleep pattern and sufficient amount of shut-eye daily is essential to help you look amazing from the inside. When you sleep is the only time your skin repairs and rejuvenates itself to look its best, so keep that in mind the next time you stay up super late binge-watching TV shows.
