7 Signs It Might Be Time To See A Dermatologist (Right Now!)

Most of us hate visiting any kind of doctor unless it’s absolutely necessary. But booking an appointment with a dermatologist can help give you the skin you’ve always wanted and can even help with your hair woes. After all, who doesn’t want flawless skin, and lustrous, healthy hair? Here are some signs that it’s time to pay your dermat a visit…

1. Horrid Hair Fall

In case of horrid hair fall, we mostly find comfort in the fact that losing 100 strands a day is normal, and that it is the usual cycle for every piece of hair that finally sheds itself. However, if your hair comes off into your hand by the bunch when you run your fingers through it, you need to make an appointment with a doc. Fix it before you’re all ‘bald’ out, we say.

2. Acne Aches

That one pimple which shows up around the time of your menstrual cycle is acceptable, and expected. But if this is a regular occurrence, it’s best to see your dermat and find out the root cause. Nip it in the bud, ladies!

3. Daring Dandruff

Walking out in a LBD looks sexy – no doubt! – but what about those white flakes that show up on your shoulders? Hello, humiliation central! You’ve probably tried every anti-dandruff shampoo available at the neighborhood store – but it doesn’t help long-term. In which case, it’s best that you take advice from a professional and tackle this. No tress-stress!

4. Annoying Itch

It probably is a normal allergy. However, after trying out multiple home remedies (mustard oil, aloe vera gel, neem paste, et al) if it persists for days at the end, you’d better have it checked with your dermatologist and have it checked for something unforeseen.

5. Worry Lines

Now this is a tricky one. After a certain age, we all have seen those lines appearing around our eyes/forehead/mouth. And you do go for regular spas and facials, but to no avail! Worry not, ladies (that’ll probably make those lines only deeper)! Just book yourself a dermat consultation and you’ll know how to deal with it.

6. Dark Circle Drama

You’re sleeping just fine and eating healthy too! Then why-oh-why is your under-eye area darkening?! Maybe it is hereditary or it’s some nutrient that’s lacking in your system. All you need to do is bring it to your dermat’s attention. Hello, even-toned skin!

7. Oh-So-Oily

Even if you have had flawless skin uptil now, if your oil glands are working on overdrive, it isn’t good news. It can lead to acne and make you feel like you need some blotting paper handy at all times. Luckily, a doctor can treat this for you. Prevention is better than cure, they say.
