As much as we love the summers, it’s tan we dread the most! Especially an uneven tan or one that leaves stripes on our skin and takes ages to fade. And trust us ladies, ain’t nobody got the time for that! If you want to get rid of it quickly, you’ve come to the right place. Here’s how to deal with a summer tan like a pro!
1. Raw potatoes to the rescue!
Potatoes contain vitamin C and they are a very popular beauty ingredient when it comes to brightening skin complexion. They not only soothes the skin, but also work as a natural bleach.
Step 1 - Slice a raw potato into half.
Step 2 - Rub the sliced half on to the tanned area of your skin.
You will need three key ingredients for this one - olive oil, sugar and lime juice. While lime juice helps lighten skin, olive oil adds moisture and sugar helps remove dead skin cells. It’s the perfect skincare remedy and will leave your skin feeling baby soft!
Step 1 - Add 2 tablespoons of sugar in a bowl.
Step 2 - Add 2 teaspoons of olive oil and 2 and a half tablespoons of lime juice.
Step 3 - Using a spoon, mix all the ingredients well.
Step 4 - Apply the paste using your fingertips and leave it to dry for 5-10 minutes.
Step 5 - Wash it off with cool water.
3. Exfoliate, baby!
If you want to get rid of that pesky tan, always exfoliate! By removing layers of dead skin cells, it also helps fade the suntan. Once a week, exfoliate in the shower using a body scrub and a loofah. You can also use a damp cloth soaked in warm water and massage the skin where the suntan is most visible.
4. Simply cover up
The best and most easiest way to save yourself from the rays of the sun is to simply cover up. The more you cover your skin, the fewer are the chances of getting a tan. Stick to cotton clothes, scarfs, and hats for the summer. :)
5. Use your sunblock EVERYDAY!
This may not help you get rid of the tan, but will certainly prevent you from getting one. Before you step out, make sure you’ve applied a good amount of sunscreen with SPF. Try to not use the same sunscreen that you use on your body over your face. Pick a separate one that is labeled “non-comedogenic,” which means that it won’t clog your pores and will be light on your skin.
You can either visit a steam room or use an uncovered hot utensil for this one. Take steam in for a good 15-20 minutes. The idea is to let the steam open your pores and allow them to breathe. While this happens, it also helps remove toxins and and tan from your skin. Doing this twice a month is more than enough.
7. Drink plenty of water
The more hydrated you keep your skin, the more chances you give it to rejuvenate itself. Also change your diet for the better. Eat light. Foods like vegetables, fruits, and lean meat should do good for removing your tan. Also, don’t forget to moisturize your skin every day to fade the tan away.
