If you thought finding your dream wedding outfit was a task, wait till the fittings part comes in. It’s not as easy as placing your order and sinking back into your bed. There’s a whole lot of when, what, where that goes into your lehenga fittings too. Here’s how you can keep up with the timeline to ensure you get an outfit that fits like a dream.
It’s only 6 months to the wedding!
This is when the hunt for the outfit should begin! You need this time to find the perfect lehenga.
I’ve found THE one!
Place your order a minimum of 5 months before the wedding. This ensures it’s made with care and you have enough time for changes, if required. Be very specific about the type of embroidery you want, the width of the panels and how kalidar you want your set to be.
Time for the first fitting
Insist on a fitting at least three months prior to the D-Day. Make sure your designer/karigar has a silhouette ready for you to inspect. Pay attention to the fabric and the fall of the lehenga. Make sure all the elements blend together.
This is the time to make changes in the design, if you want, like adding embroidery or reducing the amount of sequins, or changing the shade of your chunari. All this needs to be finalized NOW!
Try on your outfit to get a feel of how it looks and make sure you pay attention to the length of your blouse sleeves, dupatta and lehenga.
45 days to being a bride!
Yeayiii! You’re just days away from dolling up as a bride and it’s time for a full dress rehearsal. Take along your jewellery and footwear for the fittings and make sure you’re happy with what you see in the mirror. Any minor alterations with respect to your blouse fitting or the lehenga length need to be addressed now. Do make sure that threads and sequins are not coming off as you try out the outfit.
Only a month to go!
Time for your final fittings and to take the outfit off the rack!
