9 Ways To Turn That Frown Upside Down

Real life can be challenging, demanding, exacting, and there are times where there seems to be no light at the end of the tunnel. The trick to being a functional adult is not to give in to despair and self-pity, but find small ways to pick yourself up every day. Happiness can be found in the smallest moments, and here are a few ways you can infuse some joy into your day.
1. Dance it out!
The next time you feel overwhelmed by a situation or your own feelings, have a fifteen-minute solo dance party. Crank out your favourite tunes in the safety of your bedroom and in the words of Lady Gaga - just dance! Who cares if you’ve got two left feet - give the music all you’ve got and feel your worries melt away!
2. Treat yourself
A sixty-minute deep tissue massage, a half-hour home pedicure, or even a cool new haircut! There’s no shame in spending some time and money on the most important person in your life - you!

Make your morning chai-coffee ritual more special by investing in a funky mug, preferably with splashes of colour and a quirky message that makes you laugh. Adding a burst of fun to your morning sets the tone for an exciting and uplifting day.
4. Take a Walk
Exercise is the best way to get your endorphins flowing, and endorphins = instant good mood! It might be difficult to lace up and drag yourself outdoors when all you want to do is curl up in bed and have a good cry. Take five minutes out of your busy day, find a comfortable space to sit or recline, light a candle, close your eyes, and try focussing on your breath. A simple five-minute daily meditation practice has numerous physical, mental, and emotional benefits that are sure to keep you happy.
The best way to turn that frown upside down is to make a genuine effort to smile. Even when you feel that there is nothing you’d like to smile about, smile anyway. The point is to be happy, and sometimes you just gotta fake it till you eventually make it!
8. Laughter therapy
End your hectic day on a lighter note by catching an episode or two of your favourite sitcom. This is the best way to relax and mentally detox after a long hard day of living. You will forget your woes, sleep better, and wake up refreshed the next morning.
9. Colour yourself happy
