5 Easy Ways To Groom Yourself At Home If You Hate Going To The Parlour!

Just ‘coz you chose to stay in the same spot on the couch for hours on end, and all your weekends pass in a blur of sleep induced fuzziness, doesn’t mean you’ve got to look like a vagabond, right? We totally get ya! So this post is dedicated to all the #LazyGirls out there who, like me, need a cheat sheet to looking good with the least possible effort! After all, the sofa snooze fest is just too precious to let go of!

Here are some tried and tested tips and tricks that will make you look and feel glam, promise!

1. Double-Duty Heroes!

Love beauty products and have one to cover every inch of your face? But you couldn’t care enough to make all that time to doll up? Fret not, you lovely lazy girl, because you can make do with just a handful! The trick lies in picking products that work double duty! Try these:

Nivea Visage Pure Effect Total Face Cleanup is a great cleanser that also clears my skin and gives it a glow- all at the same time! For a great DIY scrub, which only involves you taking 10 steps to walk into your kitchen, mix sugar, lemon juice and olive oil and gently massage onto your face in a circular motion for squeaky clean skin.

For a natural rosy glow, I swear by Benefit’s Bene Tint Lip & Cheek Stain. But if you can’t be bothered to go out shopping, just gently rub a few slices of beetroot on the apples of your cheeks and that does the trick just as well! A multitasking hero,  Bronzers can be used as an eyeshadow or to contour your cheekbones.

Get yourself a tinted moisturizer or BB cream (depending on how much coverage you need) that contains SPF 30 or more. You get beautiful skin and sun protection in one product. And don’t forget good ‘ol Vaseline! Works as a lip balm, holds unruly eyebrows in place, adds a bit of sheen to your legs on a party night and rescues dry heels – this one’s a true magician!

2. Get the Goop Off!

One thing I absolutely hate, and am guilty of skipping way more than I should be, is washing makeup off.  When you come home with feet aching from wearing heels all night and a lot more wine in your system than there should be, you just can’t be bothered! Instead, I use makeup removing wipes to mop up all the goop on my face. My little trick is, I now keep a pack of Neutrogena’s Makeup Remover Towelettes in my bedside drawer!

3. Lock(s) And Load!

Hate washing your hair when you could just tie it into a bun? A good dry shampoo is the answer to your prayers. What also works like a charm is good ol’ baby powder! Just dust a bit onto your roots and brush out. If you prefer to not smell like a baby, brands like Dove and Tresemme have products that do the trick too.

Once you do get around to washing your hair, while it is still damp, tie it up in a loose braid or bun before you go to bed and wake up to soft beach curls the next morning! Work in some curl enhancing serum and you’re done!

5. Hard as Nails

Opt for long wear nail paint and don’t forget the top coat to make sure you don’t have to end up spending time changing your nail paint every few days. I’ve just tried the Sally Hansen nail paints and I’ve got to say, I’m impressed! It’s been over 8 days now and there’s no sign of chipping or fading! A gel manicure is another option for long-lasting manicures and pedicures, as long as you’re getting it done by a trained specialist and in a safe environment.
