We all feel the need to declutter our minds and detox mentally from time to time! Most of us feel like we need to completely cut off from everyone and everything to do so. However, given our busy lives, it’s hard to do that!
Here are a few ways you can mentally detox without going off the grid!
1. Channel that energy into physical activity
Physical activity causes the body to release endorphins. Endorphins interact with the receptors in your brain that reduce perception of pain and also trigger a positive feeling in the body! So get moving, ASAP!
2. Accept your current state
Often, we try and resist feelings of anger or hurt. You can rarely ever escape your own feelings! It’s okay to feel bad about something and natural to feel frustrated from time to time! Accept what you’re feeling and find a solution to it rather than trying to run away from it.
3. Pen down your thoughts
Writing down how you’re feeling helps BIG time. Pen down your day-to-day thoughts. Positive or negative - whatever they may be, writing is a great way to let it all out!
4. Follow positive pages and people
Unlike what we most often hear, you don’t have to completely go off social media for a mental detox. Being connected can often have a positive effect as well! Sometimes, just reading or seeing something positive can brighten up your day! #GetInspired
5. Declutter and clean your surroundings
Your surroundings can make a huge difference to how you feel. So rearrange your furniture, neaten your cupboards, clean your house, put away those clothes that have been lying around all over your room! Decluttering helps you make space for things that make you happy.
6. Re-read a book you thoroughly enjoyed
Nothing like a book to get you lost in an imaginary world of your own - the perfect way to escape! Cut off from the world and re-read an old favourite. You could also re-visit that long list of must reads you’ve been waiting to get your hands on!
7. Make some amazing travel plans
There is something strangely therapeutic about making plans! Especially one’s where there’s travel involved. Don’t stress out if they don't work out immediately. Chalk out places you want to see and then eventually make it happen!
8. Listen to music!
Any kind of music you enjoy can be soothing to the soul. Just switch off and let yourself get carried away or better yet...dance!
