Meeting THAT Boy? Here’s How To Get Your Makeup Just Right!

We’ve all been through the struggle of deciding what ‘look’ we should really go for on a date night. “Should I experiment with something different, or would that result in me looking completely over-the-top!?” We eventually just settle for our usual makeup routines in fear of looking like we tried too hard. Well, good news, ladies – it’s time to step out of your cosmetic comfort zones! While all of us do have our set rules and styles when it comes to our makeup, sometimes change is good and necessary. So, here are 6 makeup tricks to amp up your makeup without looking OTT!

1. Sparkle Up Your Eye Makeup

Dab on some shimmery eyeshadow (any colour of your choice) or a simple white or light-grey eyeshadow on the inner corners of your eyes as well as the center of the eyelid (not the entire lid). Also add some white or light-grey shadow just under and along the brow bone. The perfect placement of your eyeshadow will give your eyes an extra twinkle when the light hits your face. 🙂

2. Mix It Up By Using A Different Shade of Eyeliner

While everyone is sticking to the usual black (as are you), step out of your comfort zone a little bit and try a grey, teal or olive shade. This will instantly brighten up your eyes!

3. Highlight Your Cheekbones

Apply bronzer along the bottom line of your cheekbones (you can suck in your cheeks a little to see exactly where this line forms). Also apply just at the top of your cheeks (not the apples). Don’t be afraid to apply generously. Unlike blush, where you risk looking completely red in the face if over-applied, this is bound to do the trick without you looking over-the-top at all!

If you want to make your cheekbones stand out even more, just grab a highlighter and using a brush highlight the part just under your eye area, but before your cheeks (along the bone you can feel in that part). Start from the centre or your eye and blend all the way up.

4. Blush Away

Yes, blush is a must, of course, but try not to use a red or dark pink blush. Instead, pick hues of peach or soft pink for a more radiant look! Apply on the apples of your cheeks and merge with the bronzer you’ve applied. This is sure to give you just the glow you want!

5. Pucker Up With Shades Of Pink

Since you’re already experimenting in the eye department, keep it simple when it comes to your lips. Red lips are great, but why not be different and go with a shade of pink? Whether it’s a soft pink or bright (depending on your mood of course), it will not let you down!
