You know your boyfriend is your best friend when…
1. You don’t need to worry about how you look around him
It doesn’t bother him if you’re looking less than perfect. If you’re out on a date with him at the end of a tiring workday, he can totally deal with your wrinkled shirt and messy hair. And on days when he’s having it rough, you do the same for him.
2. You can count on him for a totally honest opinion
Whether it’s to do with work or family or friends, he will always tell you what he really thinks. Sometimes, you might think he’s being a bit too frank, but you also know that he’s always going to give it to you straight, and never just “go along” because he thinks that’s what you want to hear.
3. You can talk to him about anything under the sun
Whether it’s some random PJ you thought up, a rant about a horrible colleague, or just a video you watched that you thought was super-cute – you can talk to him about it all. He never judges you, and will always join the conversation even if it’s something he isn’t particularly interested in. And he does exactly the same with you! You never have to fake it with him.
4. There are some things he understands even without you saying it
Yes, that’s right, you guys prove that cliche of “finishing each other’s sentences” true. Because you’re so in sync with each other that you always know what the other person is going to think about a particular thing or situation.
5. He helps you through the blues
He gets it. He really, really does. And he knows when you need a tub of ice cream to cheer you up, or just be left alone. And the best part? Even when he leaves you alone, he sends you a message to tell you he cares and manages to bring a smile to your face.
6. You’ve done some pretty crazy things together
Whether it’s bungee jumping, telling people an elaborate lie so you can get out of a boring social event or creating a fake Facebook profile to mess with a common friend – you guys have done some fun and ridiculous things together. And never judged each other for your silliness!
7. Date night is a movie/TV show marathon night
Yes, of course you go on “nice” dates with dinner and drinks and dressing up. But the even nicer dates are the ones where you curl up with each other and binge-watch your fave TV shows or movie series. It’s the happiness that you feel in each other’s company that brings you the greatest pleasure!
8. You’ve pretty much developed a language of your own
Not only do you have pet names for each other (that you would NEVER tell anyone else) but you also have a code that’s all your own! When you tell him you need to “go do that thing”, he knows exactly what you mean, and you know what’s on his mind when he waggles his eyebrows at you! (But your friends tend to get a bit annoyed, though, when you have these parallel conversations with each other while hanging out with them!
9. You don’t care at all about who spends what!
Did he get the bill or you? It doesn’t matter, and neither of you keep track. After all, would you ever make a list of things you’ve bought for yourself? No, right? So why would you do that when it comes to the person in your life you love just as much? 🙂
