From Anushka Sharma’s alleged lip job (she says they’re temporary fillers for her role in the film) to seeing Karan Johar on screen for the first time after DDLJ - and in a “grey” role at that - much has been said about Anurag Kashyap’s Bombay Velvet in the past year. Well, this morning we all woke up to a first look at the film with the launch of its much-awaited trailer - and it definitely lived up to all our expectations.
Set a few decades past, but shot with 21st-century production values, the movie promises to be a fabulous visual treat. We can already tell that the versatile Ranbir Kapoor has given a mega power-packed performance, with those curls et al, as well as a few steamy scenes with Anushka Sharma. who looks like she’s channeling plenty of retro glam. Plus, KJo looks like the smoothest, suavest villain around - can we still love him even if he is the bad guy?! The movie is based on the book Mumbai Fables by Gyan Prakash and the backdrop is 1960s Bombay (not Mumbai :P), which looks charming by the way. And throw into that mix plenty of action, thrilling drama, some sizzling romance and melodious jazz.
Have a look at the trailer yourself to see why we can’t stop gushing about it! 15th May - we can hardly wait!
