Did you know that you could make yourself some super funky lipstick
at home using a box of crayons?! Yes, that’s right, and we show you exactly how! Watch this video, and you can make all your favourite shades, from blood-red for your parties to a black that matches your Halloween costume! This DIY lipstick from crayon video is a must watch!
What you need
- A box of non-toxic wax crayons (pick a brand like Crayola)
- A spoon/ butter knife
- A glass bowl
- A large pan
- A cooking hob
- A small box
- A lipstick brush
- Coconut oil (solid or liquid)
- Vaseline (optional)
Now follow these simple steps
Start with peeling off the crayon cover and cutting the crayon into approximately inch-length pieces.
Now add about 2-3 cups of water into the pan and set the heat to medium. In case you’re using a regular gas connection, set it to low.
When you see the water beginning to bubble, place the glass bowl in the pan. Be careful not to touch the water! (Use mittens if needed.)
Now take about ¼ tbsp of solid coconut oil OR ½ tbsp of liquid coconut oil, and allow it to melt in the glass bowl.
Once it melts completely, add an inch-long piece of crayon to it and stir the mixture with a toothpick. We suggest you use wooden toothpicks over plastic ones because you don’t want them melting!
Add more coconut oil, the same quantity as before, and add another piece of the crayon to the bowl. Repeat this process till you’ve use up the entire crayon.
When you’re done with that, pour the liquid into the container and allow it to cool down till it solidifies.
Once it’s ready, take some on the lipstick brush and apply it on your lips - just as you would any regular lipstick!
You can add a layer of Vaseline or clear gloss for some extra shine.
That’s it, you’re done!
Now that you’re in on the secret, you can make all those cool colours you’ve always wanted!
