#HelloGorgeous: 7 Ways To Make Your Skin Glow In Minutes

A gorgeous radiance doesn’t necessarily mean splurging on fancy facials at the salon. Natural ingredients, sourced right in your kitchen are great money savers, and can help you get clear, glowing skin in minutes. Check out our go-to-list designed just for you to get that fresh, youthful glow you’ve always aspired for.

1. Steaming With A Twist

Sure, we’re all used to steaming while getting a clean-up at the salon. But here’s another way to do it at home. Start by putting enough water to a boil. Drop 2, used green tea bags in the water as it comes to a simmer. Add 2-4 drops of tea tree oil and take a steam for about 15-20 minutes. Wash your face with cold water afterwards. The green tea does a great job to rejuvenate your skin whereas tea-tree oil helps keep breakouts at bay.

2. Sandalwood And Gram Flour Pack

One of my favourite and time-tested face packs for an instant glow, is this one. Gram flour (also known as besan, as you probably know makes your skin brighter but sometimes leaves it feeling a bit dry. A combination with sandalwood can help you get soft and glowing skin within no time. Take 1 tablespoon of gram flour, 1 teaspoon of sandalwood and 1 tablespoon of rosewater to make a fine paste. You can even add a pinch of turmeric but be very careful with the quantity or your face will look yellow! Apply on your face and wait till it dries. Wash off with cool water.

3. Baking Soda To The Rescue

Baking soda has proven to be one of the most useful beauty products from the kitchen. This DIY works as a scrub and a mask: Take 1 tablespoon of baking soda and add 1 teaspoon of organic honey to it. You can add a few drops of water to get a good consistency. Leave it on for about 15 minutes. Not just good for the face, its versatility can help slough off dead skin cells on arms, legs and back too. You can add some lemon juice if your skin is not very sensitive. It’s a great brightening agent but can cause tingling from time to time.

4. Only The Yellow Part Please

Yes, egg yolk is a powerhouse of nutrients and can help get great looking skin, when combined with the right ingredients. Take 1 egg (yolk only), 1 tablespoon of flour (white) and add ½ teaspoon of honey. Whip it into a mask and apply and you’ll find an instant glow on your face.

5. Perfect Skin + Perfect Pucker

Smoking, caffeine and a ton of lip colours can often cause discolouration on your pretty pout. And what’s the point of enviably radiant skin with a not-so-perfect pucker? Take some time out by whipping up a natural scrub for your lip area (under lips, chin etc). Take about 1 tablespoon of brown sugar, 1 tablespoon olive/coconut oil and 1 ½ tablespoons of honey. Mix it well till it gains some consistency. Apply on and around the lips and keep it on for 15 minutes. Use the tips of your fingers to massage this scrub on a clogged chin if needed. You can even use a soft-bristled brush on your lips to get rid of dead skin. Wash off and see how pink your pout really is!

6. DIY Strawberry Scrub

We thought it’s the perfect season to make the most of strawberries. While eating them is pure heaven, applying them can be very rewarding too. For a brighter looking complexion, take 1 cup of finely grated white sugar and add 2 cups of olive oil. Mix up some ripe strawberries (cut into fine pieces or grated) and keep it in a jar. Use it before leaving for a party or a date and you’re good to go!

One of our favourite breakfast choices can also prove to be an apt skin brightner and even help reduce scars. Take 1 cup of warm water (not hot), and add ½ oatmeal and 2-4 drops of lemon juice. Mix well and let it cool down a bit. Then add about 1 tablespoon of cinnamon powder. Apply on a clean face and keep it on for about 20 minutes. Wash it off with lukewarm water and say hello to soft, glowing skin!
