#GetAnEdge: 5 Ways to Dress Black Up and Down This Season!

You’ve read the Twilight series back to back? And every girls’ night in, the agenda is pretty much fixed: a Twilight-to-Breaking-Dawn movie marathon with black nail paint and popcorn? Edward Cullen is your dream man and Bella Swan is the victim of all your jealous fantasies? With the paranormal fantasy genre and everything to do with vampires becoming a veritable urban obsession, we bring you 5 “vampire” inspired looks: with black and white, with splashes of red accents,  unconventional textures and oxidized silver sequins, drapes and geometry.

Add this whimsical style to your winter wardrobe. Keep it simple, mix it up, make a mark with your unique personal style. Dig into your closet and pull out the staples, a white and black tank, your fave pair of jeans and black pants. Combined with the latest collection from Vero Moda, you’re all set to to adapt one of the biggest trends off the runway every day!

Vampire’s Day Out

Pair a white lace cami or tank top with a black embellished waist coat to create a refreshing contrast in textures and styles. Wear them with a pair of high-waist black draped pants that fit you just right. To accentuate the oomph factor, we recommend adding a pop of colour to your lips – we picked red, for obvious reasons. Throw on a pair of black pumps and a leather bag – just perfect, isn’t it?

A glitzy glam pencil skirt can be worn in several ways: all you need is some imagination and the desire to experiment. Go all out diva style, and pair the skirt with a black fitted peplum top or a halter. Or simply throw on an old black tank top and layer with a berry coloured jacket. Metallic heels, nail pigments and some to-die-for accessories add the finishing touches. Always remember that little details like a leather wrist band or a fringe bag can help add depth to your look. There’s nothing quite like a little contrast and pop!

Go monochrome – don’t be afraid. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with staying away from colour every now and then. We chose to throw in a pair of studded boots and a checkered cropped shirt to make this look a little androgynous. What we also love about this look is how easy it would be to throw it on! Smoky eyes, nude lip gloss, slicked-back hair – you get the drift?!

Dress down your formal black maxi and play it sexy with some chambray. This one is our favourite: add a shirt over your maxi; you can wear it like a simple layer or knot it up for a fun look. Throw in some tan leather accents, and you’re good to go! If you are experimenting with your hair, remember to keep the makeup minimal!
