Here’s Why I Won’t Be Repurchasing The Body Shop Chamomile Cleansing Balm

The Body Shop Chamomile Cleansing Balm is one of those products you need to try before you buy. Here’s why.

What Is It?

The Chamomile Cleansing Balm is a makeup cleanser with a buttery texture. It works on all types of makeup including waterproof mascara, caked-on foundation, and matte lipstick. The website says it’s suitable for all skin types and has been dermatologically and ophthalmologically tested and certified by the Vegan Society.

This little tub retails for around Rs. 500 which is a little bit expensive for a product of this size. It could be because the chamomile oil used for the product is known for its calming properties and comes from Norfolk, England.

Our Thoughts

I’ve used this a few times over the past week and it’s an okay product. The texture is slightly thick and buttery, you do need a big (walnut-sized) amount for your whole face so you will run out of the product in about a month – especially if you double cleanse everyday or four times a week. I will say that this does a good job of only removing the makeup. It does not remove your natural oils and leave your skin feeling super dehydrated, so big plus point there.

It’s also fragrance-free, which is good and makes it great for sensitive skin. But if you have big pores, the product will collect in them unless you double cleanse. Similarly, if you have acne-prone skin, I really don’t recommend using this as your only cleansing product.

I like it but I can’t justify the price. I still don’t understand why a small cleansing balm always costs as much as a full-sized, dermatologically tested face wash. Nothing too special and the chamomile does not feel like it has come all the way from England.

How To Use It

I use this as the first step of my cleansing routine. Take a walnut-sized amount of the balm in your hands and apply it to your face. Massage your face for at least 1 minute and make sure to hit your oiliest spots and the areas that are most likely to get blackheads. Follow with a gentle cleanser and finish with your everyday skincare routine.

What It Looks Like

Good To Know
Good Ingredients: Chamomile oil from England.
Smells Like: Is fragrance free, so good for sensitive skin.
Best Used: As the first step in your cleansing routine.

In Conclusion

This makes for a good product to include in a gifting box. But I don't think I'll be repurchasing it. Does make your skincare routine more fun though!
