Suchita Salwan has been giving the best local recommendations in India since 2011. Today, over 3,000 independent brands sell on LBB. The website has played a crucial part in making local brands popular and helping them scale. Suchita managed to scale the revenues by 100 per cent in financial year 21-22.
Her journey started with LBB as a Tumblr blog. Suchita would visit interesting places in Delhi and review them. By 2013, LBB was fairly popular. As a former marketing professional at BBC Entertainment India, Suchita knew it was time to pivot. In 2015, she started shaping LBB as a technology-focused platform with discovery and commerce at the heart of the venture. The same year, she managed to raise the first round of funding and build a bigger user base as well as expand to new cities. By 2018, LBB had a unique eCommerce muscle with merchants from all over the country selling through their website. Today, LBB is one of the most definitive platforms for expert recommendations and shopping curated products from local Indian brands.
Power Move
LBB was successfully acquired by Nykaa in September 2022. This marked the e-commerce giant’s first consumer tech investment. Helmed by Suchita, LBB continues to work independently. Together with Nykaa, LBB is now working on driving business growth for some of India’s best lifestyle brands!
