When asked about how she takes care of her hair after colouring in an interview, Palak, a natural brunette replied, “I do colour my hair a lot, because I love brown hair. After colouring what I do is, in the salon, agar chali gayi hu toh might as well get everything done with, I ask them to give me a protein treatment. Protein treatments really bring that shine back in your hair that they’ve kind of lost after all the damage.”

Hair colour has chemicals that end up damaging the hair. But opting for a protein treatment immediately after the colour, helps reduce the damage considerably and that’s why Palak swears by it.

She Never Overdoes It

Palak also mentioned that she likes to colour her hair only once a year or twice a year at most.  She said, “Don’t overdo it with your hair, especially with colour. I feel like these days we really want to keep up with the times, but if you colour your hair too much, then your hair will really give up. So, I try to give it a 6-month interval at least or at least a year.”

Colouring your hair too often can severely damage your locks. It’s not necessary to colour your hair again if the old colour is fading. Instead, maintain and refresh the colour by using a shampoo for colored hair or a purple or blue shampoo.

Picking The Right Hair Colour

Another great tip that Palak revealed in the interview is to, “Get a hair colour that is close to your actual roots, that way you have time to let it grow out and you don’t have to rush in to get a touch-up done.”

Choosing a natural hair colour that is close to your actual uncoloured roots is a great way to ensure your mane looks amazing in between colour treatments. Even if the colour begins to fade after a while, the hair will still look healthy.
