The Nike X Tiffany & Co. Shoes Are So Underwhelming, Here’s Why I Think So!

If Miranda Priestly were an actual person, the Nike X Tiffany & Co. Air Force 1 1837 shoes would receive her iconic death stare! The much-anticipated sneakers have been finally revealed and they do not live up to “the legendary pair” promise. Not even a little bit.

Crystal-encrusted kicks or maybe a generous amount of Tiffany blue was what I was expecting when I first heard of this collab. But what have they dropped instead? Black suede sneakers with a Tiffany blue tick!

Just two questions:

  1. Are you kidding me?
  2. Why?

Here’s why I feel that the Nike x Tiffany & Co. Air Force 1 1837 shoes are blah at best:

Underwhelming Design

I am going to say it. Nike did Tiffany & Co. dirty. Are you telling me that a team of accomplished designers ideated on this collab and a Tiffany blue tick on black Nike Air Force shoes is all they could come up with? C’mon!

Marketing professional, Michael J. Miraflor shared some AI-generated projections for the collab and I am stunned. The real product doesn’t even come close to the projections. Here, take a look:

A pair of solid blue shoes would have worked better. Is that too much to ask?

That Box!

The Nike X Tiffany & Co. collaboration serves as a reminder–don’t judge a book by its cover and a shoe by its box. I am disappointed ‘coz that box is gorgeous AF. If only something as gorgeous would have been sitting inside as well!

The Premium Price Tag!

I hear that the Nike X Tiffany & Co. Air Force 1 1837 sneakers will start retailing for Rs 32,727 (USD 400) from March 7, 2023. This is a premium considering what we get in the end is essentially a pair of basic black shoes with a coloured logo.

Are you feeling as underwhelmed as me after seeing the shoes? Here are four actually fun sneakers that you can get for less than half the price:

Guess I’m gonna leave this pair on “blue ticks”. Here’s hoping both Tiffany & Co. and Nike think it through next time they decide to “just do it”!
