Mira Kapoor Realised Chemical Sunscreens Work Better For Her Skin, Here’s Why

Mira Rajput Kapoor is a beauty aficionado and her Instagram is proof. From sharing her DIY home remedies to talking about the importance of supplements, the mother-of-two is always experimenting and educating her followers.

The star-wife recently took to YouTube to answer some common questions she’s been asked over time, all while getting her makeup done! While sharing her makeup routine, Mira also shared her skincare routine along with some tips and tricks she’s picked up over the years. And I took notes.

Sunscreen Is Mira’s Skin’s Best Friend

After hydrating her skin with a moisturiser, the 28-year-old doesn’t skip out on sunscreen. “All this while I’ve been using a mineral sunscreen which sometimes, can leave a white cast. And that can dissuade you from using sunscreen altogether.” She goes on to add, “The thing with sunscreen is you have to be so consistent, it’s like your best friend.” Kapoor recommends finding one that you can stay consistent with, “Even if it’s not matching up to what the internet might say about what the SPF needs to be, wearing something is better than wearing nothing.”

Mira revealed that she’s now moved to chemical sunscreens, “Because they don’t leave a white cast and they’re not as thick as mineral sunscreens so it’s easier to apply and wear under makeup.”

Chemical vs. Mineral Sunscreens: The Difference

Mineral sunscreens or physical sunscreens contain zinc and/or titanium dioxide that once applied, reflect and scatter the UV radiation from the skin. And as Mira mentioned, they also tend to leave a white cast on the skin.

Chemical sunscreens on the other hand contain ingredients like oxybenzone and octinoxate, that work by absorbing UV radiation and converting it into heat. This heat is then released from the skin. This type of sunscreen is also easier to apply and doesn’t leave a white cast.

5 Types Of Sunscreens We’re Loving

A Spray-On Sunscreen

The MyGlamm POPxo Beach Bum Ultra-Light Sunscreen Spray comes with an SPF of 50. The spray makes it easy to reapply over makeup and hair every couple of hours. The sunscreen also has a vanilla scent that smells delicious and lingers on for hours.

A Sunscreen-Infused Serum

Loaded with the skin-soothing properties of ceramides, the 82E Turmeric Sheild Sunscreen is a lightweight serum with an SPF of 40. Turmeric which is also present in the serum helps in brightening the skin and soothing irritation.

A Gel Sunscreen

The POPxo H2O Booster Sunscreen Gel has an SPF of 30 and feels like second skin after application! It also contains hyaluronic acid that helps the product double as a moisturiser too. The transparent finish also makes it perfect to apply over makeup.

A Sunscreen Stick

The Thank You Farmer Sun Project Silky Calming Sun Stick with SPF 50 is a Korean product that’s achieved cult status. It is waterproof, suitable for all skin types and leaves a dewy finish on the skin post-application. The lightweight product is also so easy to carry around!

A Tinted Sunscreen

A sunscreen that doubles as a foundation? Hell yes! The POPxo Glow Goals Illuminating Sunscreen SPF 30 is a heavenly chocolate-scented product that covers up blemishes and offers protection from the sun and blue light damage. No need to layer on multiple products once this one is part of your vanity.

The term ‘chemical’ did make me think twice, but I’m not reconsidering it anymore. Thanks to Mira, I’m stocking up on these for summer!
