For us normal folks an earthquake is one of the most scary experiences. Your entire life can crumble in seconds and you can lose everything. But unfortunately, not everyone understands the severity of it! Recently, TV actor Divyanka Tripathi took to social media to share a video of her ‘experiencing an earthquake for the first time’. And this is as tone-deaf as one can be!

Internet users were quick to point out the problematic side of Divyanka’s video. One Twitter user shared, “What’s so exciting about Earthquake madam? Don’t forget what happened in Turkey and Nepal. While you’re laughing and getting excited about earthquakes, keep in mind that someone might be losing their home or their life at that moment. Be a little more sensitive.”

It is hardly a surprise that the actress was heavily bashed for her video. Any natural calamity can prove disastrous to humanity. It is not a laughing matter or something ‘exciting’. There are millions of people who have lost their livelihoods, homes, and families in earthquakes.
Thankfully, in Divyanka’s case, nothing turned out to be so hazardous. However, this doesn’t mean she gets off scot-free over the remark. As a public figure, Divyanka should act responsible!
I hope Divyanka realises the gravity of her comments and shares an apology. ‘Coz to err is human but admitting to it is a great thing to do.
