8 Makeup Trends We Spotted At The Met Gala 2023

You’ve probably heard most refer to the Met Gala as fashion’s biggest ‘night-out’; with much emphasis on fashion. But I have to say: this year’s Met was just as much beauty as it was fashion. A lot of talking was done and with the eyes. Think winged liner, 90s-inspired icy eyeshadow and electrifying smokey eyes.

It seems like our favourite celebs have ditched the no-makeup-makeup look for something bigger and bolder. Here’s a look at the best eye makeup looks from Met Gala 2023. Because god knows we need a little inspo right about now.

Priyanka Chopra’s Subtle Cat Eyeliner

All hail Priyanka Chopra. P.C.’s MUA dreamt up the most subtle cat eyes ever. That rosy-pink eyeshadow coupled with a matching lipstick was beautiful but it was her fluttery lashes that caught my attention.

Gigi Hadid’s Icy Gold Eyeshadow

Gigi Hadid’s eyes were covered in a silvery-gold shimmer. Her cat eyeliner coupled with the subtle underlining of the lower lash line and a pearl rhinestone added that touch of Coachella magic to her look.

Silver eyeshadow or inner corner highlight appears to be one of the biggest trends on the red carpet at the Met Gala. From Don’t Worry Darling’s Olivia Wilde to Euphoria’s Sydney Sweeney to Rihanna, many wore this icy silver hue on their lids this season.

Jennie Kim’s K-Drama Inspired Monotone Makeup

Jennie Kim’s look was soft and fresh. Her monotone makeup look and soft blurred lipstick scream K-drama. The subtle pop of pink added depth and dimension to her face.

Billie Eilish’s Reverse Smokey Eyes

Billie Eilish’s reverse cat eye was intense, but in a good way, you know? That strong eyeliner paired with kohl on her waterline created a very dramatic eye look. She paired it with a peachy-nude ombre lip to ensure that her eyes command all the attention. Bold eyeliner was another trend we saw a lot of celebrities sporting this season.

Emma Chamberlain’s Everything Blue

Gen Z icon, Emma Chamberlain, showed us that blue and black always go together; especially when dark, intense blue eyeshadow is combined with lots of kajal around the eyes. Nothing is more emo than this.

Vanessa Hudgens’ Graphic Eyeliner

You can count on Vanessa Hudgens to pull off graphic winged eyeliner like it’s nothing. Because that’s exactly what she did at the Met Gala. The look is a lot like Deepika Padukone’s from last year’s Cannes, and I’m obsessed.

Kim Kardashian’s Classic Smokey Eye

Kim Kardashian opted for a soft brown smokey eye that was topped off with just the right amount of shimmer. Her makeup artist extended the eyeshadow down to the lower lashline, for that added drama and added a stroke of kohl to make her eyes look bigger and brighter. Overall, I love the look!

Rihanna’s Version Of Falsies

You didn’t think we’d talk about beauty trends at the Met Gala without mentioning Rihanna, did you? Rihanna, in all of her boss-babe glory, decided to put on a pair of sunglasses for the red carpet. But I’m not talking about your basic, run-off-the-mill pair. I’m talking about one with falsies attached to them. This gives me ideas. So many of them!!

I know I’m experimenting with these looks ASAP, which one was your favourite?
