Remember when we were kids and we couldn’t wait to grow up and show the world what we were capable of? Seriously, what were we thinking, wanting to grow up? Turning into an adult suddenly doesn’t seem all that great now, does it? Read these things that no one ever tells anyone about being an adult – you’ll pretty much relate to all of them!

1. You will be tired all the time

Feeling exhausted is going to be your perpetual state of being. No matter how healthy a lifestyle you try to choose for yourself, you are still going to be very tired.

2. You’ll want to stay in bed the whole time

Even if you are not sleepy! Watch a movie? In bed. Have dinner? In bed. Try to work out? In bed. Meet up with a friend for drinks? Nahhh, chill in bed. Work from home? Work from the unparalleled comfort of your bed. So much win.

3. You will put on weight easily

You won’t even realize it and one day you will wake up with a huge belly and your favourite jeans suddenly won’t fit you anymore. And as easy as it is to gain weight, it’s just as hard to lose it. You’ll end up realizing that too, first-hand.

4. You will always be broke

Being an adult is really hard, even if you slog all day at work, you will still get paid in peanuts. The worst part is that all of this hard-earned money will disappear once you pay your rent and electricity and water and maintenance bills.

5. People your age will start getting married

Not just that but people who are younger too. You will start wondering if you should get married too because you fear about WHO will actually be left single after this shaadi mela that seems to be going on.

6. You will be an emotional wreck

It’s very hard being an adult and you will feel like life is too heavy on your shoulders. You will lose friends, you probably won’t have your dream job – yes, even after three tries. You will feel miserable and lonely and you can’t help but notice that everyone else is seeming to do better than you are. So, you will break down and cry, often. That doesn’t make you weak, it just makes you human.

7. Hangovers will be your worst enemy

That ex that you hate so much? That hatred will feel very mild after you get introduced to adulthood hangovers.

8. Some heartbreaks will break you

You will convince yourself that it made you stronger and that it ended for the best and after a while you will believe in everything you’ve been telling yourself. But the truth is, sometimes, when you love someone with all that you are, you give yourself to them completely and it’s hard taking yourself back. That’s just the reality of it and no amount of pep talks can change that.

9. Things never really travel vertically upward

If you’re assuming that after you get a degree, you’ll get the best job, get promoted, then get married, have kids etc…that is not going to happen. There will be unexpected surprises lined up for you. And some of these surprises will be super but some will be pretty shitty too.

10. You won’t suddenly turn into a responsible adult

It takes years of mistakes, experiences and practice. Don’t feel bad about it. Take all the time you need.

11. No one has their sh*t together

No, seriously. Everyone else is just as confused as you are (even if it doesn’t seem like it) and just trying to figure this life thing out. Don’t sweat it, don’t back down and don’t be afraid.

12. You stop caring about a lot of things

Things that might have mattered a lot in the past, just don’t anymore. Which is, in fact, brilliant. The lesser you care, the happier you will be.

13. It gets hard to “keep up”

With the world changing every second, it really does get hard to keep up with everything that’s happening around you. Your smartphone can only help you so much. But you don’t have to know everything, you can’t possibly. So relax!

14. Sleep is necessary but you won’t fall asleep

If you think waking up is an ordeal, it’s the same the other way around too. Even falling asleep requires quite a lot of effort and you’ll realize this as the problems in life grow – money management, workload, personal health… Thoughts will keep you up quite late sometimes.

15. You parents become people you chill with

And by chill, we mean you really do chill with them. You have conversations with them like you would with your friends. Being honest with them suddenly becomes a lot more easier!
