#AW2017 Beauty Round-Up: These Are All Things Make-Up That You Need To Know This Season!

As the seasons move along, the make-up conscious sing a happy song. Too much? I thought so. Anyway, with a brand new season comes a whirlwind of collections, limited editions and new formulas (Ding, ding, ding!). While we don’t need to change everything we use (I love my classics), we can UPDATE a few of the beauty products according to the high flying trends of the season. (High flying is still a good phrase to use isn’t it?). Let’s get to it friends!

1. Shades of Pink

Tones of blush and rust (did I just make a rhyme?) have made their way into the eye make-up department and I couldn’t be happier. Stock up on these to create sunset eyes for your next night out.

Pro Tip: The trick that I use sometimes is that I use my bright and happy blush as an eyeshadow, sort of brings the whole look together.

2. Cheeky Blush

Having too much blush is always a no-no all year around, but for the season, the look is more natural. By natural, I mean the baby-it’s-cold-outside, natural. (I live in Mumbai so the blush is my best bet.) Just add an extra touch of colour on your cheeks, with the same shade they turn when you are in a cooler place

Pro Tip: For this look, I suggest you use a creme blush, it just blends better and looks more natural!

Products I love: L’Oreal Paris Infallible Paint Chubby Blush (Rs 999); Lakme Absolute Face Stylist Blush Duos (Rs 638)

3. Feathery Lashes

The doe-eyed look is absolutely in this season. The trick is to have fuller lashes on the top but keep it minimal on the bottom lashline. If you’re going to an event, put on some falsies.

Pro Tip: Swap your black kohl with a nude eye pencil on your waterline, to make you look more awake. You can also read more about acing this look in the November issue.

Products I love: Maybelline New York Lash Sensational Mascara (Rs 500); Deborah Milano 5 In 1 Extraordinary Mascara – Extra Black (Rs 775); M.A.C Lash – 34 (Rs 1,200); Ardell Natural Strip Lashes – 107 Black (Rs 415)

4. The 90’s Effect

The 90s are back, and the influence is inevitable. While I still would steer clear of the dark lip liner and nude lip, I wouldn’t mind a nice mocha shade. So swap your nudes and pinks for a nice brown shade. You might be surprised.

Pro Tip: If you aren’t too comfortable with a dark mocha, just try a ‘my lips but better’ brown to start off with and then move forward from there.

Products I love: NYX Professional Makeup Lip Lingerie Liquid Lipstick – Teddy (Rs 650); Nykaa So Matte Lipstick – Bon Bon 26M (Rs 326); Faces Ultime Pro Longwear Matte Lipstick (Rs 699)

5. Feelin’ The Blues

Shades of blue are taking over the eyes and I don’t mind it one bit. Just stock up on a few fun blues and throw in a cyan or sea green. Go on, be the mermaid you always wanted to be!

Pro Tip: Swipe a teal blue eyeshadow and then smoke it out with a Q-tip for a quick blue smokey eye.

Products I love: MUA Elysium Shadows Eyeshadow Palette (Rs 1,150); Colorbar Infinite 24Hrs Eyeliner – Infinite Blue 003 (Rs 700)

6. Double-Duty Products

Invest in an amazing bronzer, and use it as a blush on the days where you feel like keeping it low key. Not only does it add more dimension, but also a pop of colour to your face.

Pro Tip: Pick a bronzer or a contour with medium pigment and no shimmer. This way you can be IG ready without any filters!

Products I love: theBalm Bahama Mama Bronzer (Rs 1,399); NYX Professional Makeup Matte Body Bronzer (Rs 850)

7. Mauve Mania

Pink is great, but you can move a little towards the mauve palette. This, not just for your lips, but a mauve-hued eyeshadow and blush looks gorgeous. Though, stay away from using all 3 together.

Pro Tip: The mauve palette has an array of options, your best bet at not overdoing this trend would be using multipurpose products that you can swipe on as a lip colour and eyeshadow or blush.

7 beauty products

Products I love: Maybelline New York Color Sensational Lip Gradation – Mauve 1 (Rs 600); L’Oreal Paris Infallible Never Fail Lip Liner – Mauve (Rs 650); M.A.C Cremeblend Blush (Pro Palette Refill Pan) – Dusty Rosey Mauve (Rs 1,650)

8. Berry Lips

We have been warned against wearing a strong eye and a bold lip (I still do it, the rules aren’t set in stone guys), but there isn’t a rule that takes you away from going bold. Experiment with berry shades or deeper tones of pinks, browns and reds this season.

Pro Tip: Achieve a symmetrical look by swiping the same bold shade on both your lips and cheeks.

8 beauty products

Products I love: Nykaa Paintstix! Lipstick – Bombshell Berry – 09 (Rs 319); SUGAR Smudge Me Not Liquid Lipstick – 01 Brazen Raisin (Burgundy) (Rs 499)

9. Dewy Skin

Luminous, supple and healthy is the name of the game. Minimal make-up close to your natural skin and no caking is what the trend lords have brought you this season. I love mixing a bit of my creme highlighter with a BB cream for a luminous and healthy look without too much coverage.

Pro Tip: Add another step to your CTM regime. Use a lightweight, brightening serum after your toner to give it that barely there glow.

9 beauty products

Products I love: Ciaté London Dewy Stix (Rs 2,200); Maybelline New York Clear Glow Bright Benefit Cream (Rs 275); L’Oreal Paris True Match Lumi Liquid Glow Illuminator (Rs 799)

10. Jewel-Toned Smokey Eyes

Ditch the usual greys and blacks and swap them smokey eyes with pretty jewel tones. With the festive season in full swing, shades of gold and jewel green will fit right in.

Pro Tip: Add a twist to your usual smokey eye by using a champagne gold as the base and topping it with sapphire blue.

Products I love: Lakme Absolute Shine Line Eye Liner (Rs 383); PAC HighShine Liquid Liner Pen (Rs 395)
