More often than not, ladies, your man going down on you may give you the best orgasm ever! In fact, more women are likely to orgasm via cunnilingus (that is the formal term for a girl being gone down on) than intercourse! Don’t believe us? Maybe try it yourself? 😉
2. Maybe he isn’t only doing it for pleasure!
As weird and probably even a little juvenile as it might sound, men actually might not be going down on their partners purely for the sake of pleasure. Research says that men use cunnilingus as a mate retention strategy, which means that he might subconsciously be going down on you to keep you from straying! *Jaw drops*
3. You shouldn’t be conscious about the smell of your vagina, it doesn’t smell weird!
Okay, yes, it doesn’t smell like lilies – but hey, it’s not supposed to. Your vagina smells perfectly normal if you maintain decent hygiene habits. It’s a common practice to use flavoured lubricants in order to take the experience a notch higher. This however, might not always be a good idea for two reasons. One, women who have yeast infection issues might find themselves having exaggerated infections if they’re using an oil-based lubricant – an oil based liquid is difficult to wash away, especially from the vagina, and can affect the natural pH balance of the vagina. Second, oil is known to break down latex and turn a condom porous; so if you are using a latex based condom to prevent pregnancy and STDs, you should watch what you use. A water-based lubricant is a much safer bet, though – they don’t mess with your pH balance or affect condoms when you’re having intercourse.
6. Oral sex can lower the risk of preeclampsia
Preeclampsia is a condition in which a pregnant woman may suffer from high blood pressure and excessive protein in the urine. If it worsens, it could potentially affect the health of the baby during pregnancy and also cause the mother’s kidneys and platelet counts to be severely affected. A study suggests that women who have been involved in oral sex are less prone to this condition as compared to women who have had little or none.
7. Men give as much as they receive!
On the face of it, to most women it seems that the number of blow jobs given are much higher than the number of cunnilingus sessions received. But that actually might not be entirely true. Surprisingly, the willingness of a man to go down on a woman is inversely proportional to his age. A study shows that older men are more reciprocative about oral sex when compared to younger ones. The numbers say that as opposed to 55% of men in the age group of 20-24, 69% of the men in the age group of 30-39 are willing to give oral sex.
8. It’s important to be cautious and stay safe
As unfortunate as it is, it’s not just intercourse that can result in the transmission of STDs or STIs. Since transmission of infections happen via fluid to tissue contact, you can catch diseases such as syphilis, gonorrhoea, herpes, hepatitis, etc. So go on and talk to your partner and get yourselves tested so that you can enjoy yourselves in peace!
