#BeautyDiaries: How I Got Rid Of My Tan After My Summer Holiday

Who doesn’t love summer holidays and beaches? For me, a beach vacation is a perfect getaway from the buzzing Delhi life. Nothing gives me more happiness than sipping my favourite drink by the poolside or on the beach with a few friends. And it’s all fun and games until you come back with a horrible sun tan!

Possibly the only reason I had to think twice before taking a beach vacation was the thought of returning with my skin 2 tones darker. And that would also be okay, but those pesky tan lines that look like stripes are absolutely the worst!

This has happened quite a few times and the most common solution my salon lady had to offer was a full body de-tan bleach. I am personally not a big fan of bleaching for the sole reason that it itches (way too much) and it might just end up burning my sensitive skin.

Internal getting rid of my tan

So, just like many of you out there, I decided to turn to the internet to find some home remedies for tan removal and ended up with some 8437839 ways, not knowing what would work and what wouldn’t. While I was trying and testing these remedies one at a time, my sister had the best solution in store for me.

How it works – You start by applying a scrub made by mixing sugar and olive oil on your tanned areas. I personally used to skip the face (to avoid the redness). This doesn’t just exfoliate your body, but also moisturizes and brightens it up. Then, you apply a mixture of aloe vera, lemon juice and honey again all over the tanned areas and leave it to dry. Wash it off with cold water. You can try this once a week, though I would do it thrice a week because of how severe my tan was. And I could see the difference after every session. It has just been 2 weeks since I am back from my vacation and I am already back to my normal skin tone.

This is the remedy that worked best for me. Aloe vera works wonders for sensitive skin but it also helped me get rid of my sun tan and get my natural complexion back. Plus, olive oil really helps soften and hydrate your skin.

So the next time you’re jetsetting to the seaside or any summer vacay, stop worrying about the tan. We have already figured out the most effective tan removal remedy for you!!! 😀
