Believe it or not, but conditioning your mane and then shampooing could be the answer to all your mane troubles. Read on to know everything from the how, why and when of reverse hair washing. If your hair is thin or prone to oiliness then this revolutionary method will definitely help you achieve better results. Conditioning your mane first helps nourish your strands without weighing them down. For a lot of people, you never fully wash out your conditioner and that residue weighs down your mane, making it flat and can contribute to icky greasiness. By reversing the order, your hair still gets the moisture it needs from your conditioner, while your shampoo will help cleanse.

2. What Type Of Hair Does It Work Best For?

Other than fine hair and oily hair, it can help to try this method if your roots tend to get greasy but your ends are dry. Hair that is highlighted or gets tangled easily can also benefit from reverse hair washing.

4. How Will You Know If Reverse Washing Is Right For You?

Well you need to try it first to know. It may work better with certain products than it does with others, you won’t really know till you experiment. Lines like Tresemme Healthy Volume shampoo and conditioner and Kerastase Resistance Therapiste Collection work fabulously well for this method.

Of course you’re just reversing the order of your shampoo and conditioner, but here are a few things that will help maximize the effects for soft, bouncy hair.

  • Wet your hair first and saturate your strands from root to tip before you apply      your conditioner. Your hair needs to be fully soaked for the conditioner to be      distributed well.
  •  Apply it ears-downwards like you typically do.
  •  Leave it on for about 5 minutes or however long you usually would.
  •  Now whether you should wash it out or not is a crucial question. For some, rinsing out your conditioner and then working in your shampoo works fine, but for others it could be make your hair seem dry and brittle. If that’s the case then DO NOT rinse out your conditioner. Instead, apply your shampoo with your conditioner on, lather and then wash it all out. This will have much better effects on your hair.

If your hair is feeling particularly dry, instead of trying a million different products, why not change up your hair wash regime? It could make all the difference. Moisturizing your locks without weighing them down is exactly what this method is all about.
