Super Easy (And Glam!) Makeup Tricks To Rock It This Diwali!

You probably know by now how much we love dolling up, and what better occasion is there for that than Diwali? With plenty of card parties, family get-togethers, poojas and all-round celebrations on the agenda, a bit of war paint is a must to look our glamorous best. We give you our top festive makeup tips for Diwali that will also see you through the shaadi season and Christmas!!

1.  A Flawless Complexion

Ace Your Base

You need to make sure your face is cleansed and moisturized well before you can even think about making it look good. Apply a foundation that matches your exact skin colour and then follow it up with concealer only in the areas that you really need it, like on your under eyes. Spend a couple minutes just blending it all in for a seamless finish. Dust on some loose powder so it all stays in place through a Diwali pooja and a late night of revelry. You don’t want to worry about touch-ups and streaking after all.

Get Your Glow On

This one’s for the girls who like to keep their makeup simple and fuss-free. By perfecting one of our fave makeup moves – strobing. Don’t panic, it’s super easy and will give you that amazing lit-from-within radiance. After you’ve applied your foundation/ concealer, use a highlighter on the high planes of your face. Basically along the tip of your nose, the centre of your forehead, your cheekbones, your brow bones, your chin and the inner corners of your eye. Blend it in well and be amazed by how healthy and glowy your complexion looks. If you still haven’t treated yourself to a magical highlighter, what are you waiting for? We love Revlon’s Highlighting Palette (Rs. 995).

2. Mesmer-eyes!

The Smoky Look

Playing up our eyes is a given. You can’t go wrong with heavily kohled eyes, it adds enough drama without having to bother with eye shadow. A dark kohl pencil with a smudger attached like Lakme Absolute Kohl Ultimate (Rs. 725) is perfect for that smouldering effect. A thick line on your lids, smudged for the smoky look, is enough to dazzle. Pair it with a generous sweep of mascara to really maximize the sexy look.

Metallic Magic

Metallic colours are perfect to get into the festive spirit and look beautiful with a pretty pink lip. Remember to pair lighter colours with a darker outfit so you don’t run the risk of looking OTT. Hues with a touch of shine look gorgeous in pale pinks, silver, blues and greens. Try a sheer lipstick to tone down the look.

If you’re going bold with your eyes then you may want to ditch the red lipstick. A pretty pale pink will see you through the season in style. L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Moist Matte Lipstick in Cherry Crush (Rs. 925) is a never-fail colour to help you look pretty and feminine. Sheer lipstick or just some good old lip gloss is also a great choice.
