You know how Delhi University is spread across the north and south regions of Delhi – but it’s always the older half that gets covered across movies and gets all the attention? Here’s squaring things out a bit! This one is for all those of you who’ve studied at Delhi University, South Campus…
1. We spend more time in Satya Niketan than in college!
‘Coz, well, we are where the food is! Oh those rolls, maggi, Momos, tiffins and cafes! The place had a food joint literally at every step, and still a newer one cropped up every week.
2. We’re pros at the hookah!
With the many places that offered shisha in Satya in many more flavours – no wonder we exhaled those perfect rings out – till, of course, they disappeared completely overnight!
3. We ran out of passes to our own college fest!
‘Coz all our friends from other colleges just kept asking us for them. But it was so much fun to watch guys from North Campus reserve their dates to queue up for fests at JMC, Gargi and LSR!
4. Sarojini to CityWalk – we got shopping covered!
From fuchchas to fashionistas – the complete makeover that we go through in three years’ of graduation is hard for some of our parents to believe!
5. And we also got the coolest places to hang out at!
GK, South Ex, Khan Market, Def Col, even Gurgaon … Girl, we’re even close to the hip places in Gurgaon – we just got it alll!
6. Did we mention our sprawling campus?
Yup, we even got the best campuses DU boasts of – from Gargi to Maitreyi! And not just that, the South Campus building itself is a world in its own – with its lush green, cobbled gardens and its quiet air!
7. DUSU elections here weren’t as crazy…
And we’re so glad! We got the work done minus all the drama.
8. We’ve got our own unique culture too
Venky has its own temple and priest, right at the entrance of the college, and every year massive puja and celebrations are held for it, where students and teachers alike participate. And Gargi has its own room called ‘retreat’, where one can retreat after a long day at classes and actually nap on a few of those beds lying around!
9. Whoever said we’re missing out on a ‘campus life’ like the north….
Needs to come down south to have some real fun, really!
