#SummerReady: How To Deal With That Stubborn Tan!

We’re all for a gorgeous, sun-kissed glow, but uneven skin tones and too-tanned skin is generally what we end up with instead, thanks to these scorching summer months! That, however, shouldn’t stop you from having some fun in the sun! We give you a few tips on dealing with a stubborn summer tan to help you rock a healthy, envious glow through the season.

Exfoliate Like A Pro

How To Deal With Ingrown Hair

It’s important to exfoliate regularly, especially before venturing out on a sunny day. It helps get rid of dead skin cells, which means that even if you do get a tan, at least it’ll be even, not patchy. It also helps prevent acne by getting rid of pore-clogging dirt. Be particular about exfoliating all summer long to ensure you tan evenly, which also means that it will fade evenly.

Beware Of Sun Overexposure

It’s important to not spend hours at a stretch under the sun, and to not overexpose your skin to harmful UV rays. Obviously, it’s impossible to not venture outdoors at all, but limit your outdoor time to as little as possible. The sun’s rays are at their harshest between 10 am and 4 pm. So, you don’t want to step out for too long in the middle of the afternoon.

Be SPF Ready, Always

How To Deal With A Summer Tan

Use a good moisturising lotion with SPF to ensure sun protection. We love Vaseline Triple Lightening Body Lotion SPF 24 for providing sun protection while moisturising and  healing the skin, for reducing pigmentation and for fighting sun damage. It has a fast absorbing formula and can help restore your skin’s natural colour, even after you’ve spent hours in the sun.

Cover Up

Remember to put on sunglasses and a hat when you step out in the scorching heat. You may feel like a character right out of a spy movie, but trust us, it’ll really help protect you from sun damage. Shades can help protect the thin layer of skin around your eyes, while preventing you from squinting, which WILL lead to crow’s feet, sooner or later. A hat will protect your forehead, scalp, eyes and ears from damaging rays, AND make for a cool summer statement.

How To Deal With A Summer Tan

Potatoes And Lemon Juice: Did you know that potatoes have natural bleaching properties? The juice extracted from potatoes can help reverse tans and treat sunburns and blemishes. Mix it with a tablespoon of lemon juice and apply on tanned skin for 30 minutes daily to lighten a tan.

A Glass Of Milk: Your grandma was right, bathing in milk can do wonders for your skin. Add a pinch of turmeric powder to it and apply it on your skin with a cotton ball daily to restore its original colour with a healthy glow.

Yummy Yogurt: Yogurt helps cool the skin and reduce redness and irritation. You can apply it as it is or add a few drops of fresh orange juice to a bowl and apply for half an hour to get rid of that summer tan.
