A self-proclaimed fashionista, lippie lover and accessory junkie, Aleena Mackar of The Style Chair wowed the POPxo team with her confident sense of style. Her blog is a pleasure to navigate through and you will find it filled with informative posts and pictures, as she details how to make the most out of an outfit and wear it in a way that you won’t find elsewhere! Her “fun gal” personality shines across in her hair and makeup tutorials and her love for accessories will leave you wanting more! As well as being a professional hairstylist, makeup artist and stylist, she is a Creative Director at Sherie’s Salons, Pune. What sparked your interest in fashion?
A flair for fashion runs in my blood – my mother, even at 50, is still the most fashionable lady I know and can give any 25-year-old a run for her money . As for me, I’ve been spotted sporting a bikini at the age of 3 and saris at the age of 4! I love my accessories, though I did get a little too carried away with accessorizing and overloading myself with necklaces and hair beads as a child.
What is your first fashion or beauty memory?
Being dressed up, in a swimsuit and a tiara, as Miss Universe by my mum and being up on stage, in front of about a 100 people (I was very nervous). But I was told that I totally carried myself off with a lot of confidence (even then!)
What is your personal style statement?
Honestly my personal style would be to dress unique and be myself. So if I’m in a very happy and girly mood, I tend to dress up more in florals and skaters. Or if I’m in a hardcore mood then I lean towards a more grungy style. Basically, I dress according to my mood. I follow trends but with my own added twist. I’m definitely not the emulating kind.
What made you take up blogging?
My expertise in the beauty industry and my eclectic sense of style made me want to start blogging! I wanted to blog not just to show people what clothes and makeup I wear, but also to show people a new way to wear an outfit. I also enjoy giving styling tips, do makeup tutorials, inform readers about new trends and how to wear them, and offer outfit ideas for different occasions.
What would you like to tell all aspiring bloggers?
I would like to wish all the budding bloggers a lot of luck, because for all of you who think blogging is easy – it isn’t! For anything to be successful you need to put in a lot of hard work. For aspiring fashion bloggers, I would say: have a good mix of brilliant pictures pictures and meaningful content. It’s very important to be consistent and active on social media. The blogging world is your playground, so play around with new trends and styles. 🙂

1. One beauty product you swear by
Aloe vera gel. Be it for hydrating or soothing the skin or relief after sunburn, I would blindly recommend it for any skin type. Everyone should own a jar of aloe vera gel.
2. An outfit you could live in for the rest of your life
A racer-back top is something I can live in all the time. During the winters I wear them under a blazer too. 😉
3. Your biggest guilty pleasure
Accessories! I am a complete accessory junkie and my biggest buy has been my big diamond and emerald heart-shaped ring.
4. The one trend/ style you would NEVER wear
Fishnet stockings. It just doesn’t feel classy.
5. Success is?
To consistently be able to achieve and surpass goals set by yourself. Success is never the end. Success is to be able to enjoy the fruits of your own hard work.
6. Fame or money ?
Fame. Money can come and go, but to build yourself a name requires a lot of hard work.
7. You look up to?
I don’t want to sound like a little girl, but my role model for as long as I can remember, has been my father. He is not only a perfectionist but he also inspires me to be grounded, dedicated and a person of substance.
8. The ONE thing no one knows about you?
If I told you that, then you would all know! But one thing not all people know about me is that I can’t stand anything out of place – to the extent that you would actually catch me organizing my stuff even whilst out on a date.
9. What is your biggest strength?
My biggest strength has got to be my dedication.
10. If you could be anyone for a day, who would you like to be?
Well, like they say, live life queen size. So, for a day, I would actually like to live a queen’s life – where I don’t have to lift a finger for a thing and would be pampered to the maximum. Though the silly side of me says I would love to be Penelope Cruz – just to wake up beside a arrestingly handsome body, Javier Bardem. *Happy dance*.
